"REACHING OUT"
Internationally renowned song writer and reggae artist, Jamaican-born Ras Midas, has professionally produced dynamic Reggae and World Music since 1972. Inspired by the overwhelming acceptance of his music worldwide, Ras Midas has just completed his ninth album, "Reaching Out".
Featuring 15 new original tracks, it blends the classic Ras Midas roots reggae sound with hip hop and dance hall elements. The very strong and powerful message heard on all Ras Midas' albums remains unchanged, and the up tempo dance arrangements will undoubtedly take reggae into a new era.
The title track, "Reaching Out", expresses the true global commitment of universal love and human solidarity for social and political change wherever democracy does not exist.
This album is so powerful and dynamic that it is very hard to select one track over another. "Crazy World" & "Broke Your Foot" will likely be crowd pleasers for today's hip hop & dance hall audiences. "One Step At A Time", "Unfolding", & "Women Struggle" will have tremendous commercial appeal.
Ras Midas recorded "Reaching Out" at Straight Ahead Studio in California with a multi-ethnic group of some of the world's most talented and established musicians and singers from the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ras Midas' first international hit was a World Beat release, "Kudea-A-Bamba", recorded in English and Swahili for Island Records, which sold half a million copies worldwide. The first artist to record Reggae in French, "Rastaman In Exile" earned Album of The Year in France, with the help of his hit single, "Too Long in The Wind"/"Tout Temps Dan Le Vent". Ras Midas later signed with AZ Disc and Celluloid before forming his own label, JML Records, in the 1990's.
A European and African sensation, Ras Midas has distinguished himself by consistently delivering high-energy performances, positive lyrics and music for the entire family: "In my music I see a better world...to bridge the distances between cultures, to make a type of music that everyone can understand. It's about a uniformity of love."
Ras Midas is well known for his dynamic performances. He has headlined at stadiums and dance halls around the world, and has participated in many festivals and special events throughout North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. His consistent efforts to remain musically independent have helped him maintain a loyal fan base for nearly three decades.
