notes
Imagine the music of Dylan on steroids and pumped into the 21st Century. Imagine, then, acoustic rock poetry. This is Raslo Layton, the Rock Poet. Raslo is, first and foremost, a wordsmith in the vein of Adam Duritz (Counting Crows), Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
Raslo is not background music. Like him or hate him he is an artist to be listened to. His simple, North-of-England directness challenges the frivolity of our times and throws the emphasis back on meaning within songs, yet in an unassuming and apparently naive fashion.
Immensely listenable, this collection of 9 songs and 3 spoken-word pieces cuts through the fluff of modern life with a sharp, uncluttered production and edgy, provocative lyrics.
