Guitar virtuoso / Singer-Songwriter / Producer Rafael Moreira's debut instrumental album, "Acid Guitar" is an eclectic Intrumental blend of Rock, Jazz and Brazilian music with vocal lines complimenting the song's melodies and soulful, shredding guitar solos. Known to concert and record buying audiences worldwide as a preeminent musician, Rafael is an intuitive musician and relentless performer, whose instincts and passions are balanced by his versatility and technical dexterity.
Among his many accomplishments, Rafael was the featured lead guitarist / vocalist on the hit CBS television shows Rock Star INXS and Supernova, and most recently on MTV's Rock the Cradle. He has also appeared as lead guitarist / supporting vocalist live on world tours and television, as well as on CD & DVD releases, with world renowned and groundbreaking artists such as Paul Stanley (KISS), Don Felder (The Eagles), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction), Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Pink, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Marc Anthony and Utada to name a few.
In addition to these performances, Rafael was invited to record on the debut project for the group Shapes, produced by Jimmy Haslip, where he performed with two legendary Brazilian artists: drummer Airto Moreira and singer Flora Purim.
Born in Cambara, Parana, in Southern Brazil, Rafael came of age miles from the nearest city, far outside the range of any radio station. It was the artistic influence of his mother, a classical / jazz pianist that fueled his earliest musical ambitions. He started singing at age two, by five he was playing guitar.
The rich musical diversity of Brazil, particularly the artistry of Djavan, Milton Nascimento and Antonio Carlos Jobim, proved an undeniable influence on Rafael's musical upbringing. His mother also took infrequent trips to Sao Paulo, and she would return bearing the latest rock records – including the Rolling Stones and KISS – which he would assimilate. As a singer-songwriter, composer and musician, Rafael continues to combine a wide variety of musical ingredients – rock, jazz, funk, and Brazilian music – into new forms. His intense dedication to his craft is matched by his impeccable musicality. His musical horizons are limitless.

Rafael
author: Byron CancelmoRead his bio, it says it all. Rafael is a very unique and genius guitar player and music composer. I have heard him play heavy metal, classic rock, alterative, pop, classical and this sweeping Brazilian Jazz is remarkle. Rafael, is not just another guitar player, Definately ranks way high. Great stage presence! He knows how to entertain. I am looking forward to hearing the new album from his latest progressive rock project "Magnetico".
Not what I was expecting, but very good.
author: Dakota PowersThis cd is not what I was expecting at all. The only music I had heard from Rafael, was on the Rockstar series, and a couple of youtube videos. I thought the music would be a lot "harder" and a little more "traditional" playing. Like a lot of pentatonic riffs and scales, some shredding, etc. But that's what makes this cd and Rafael so great, he's different, and he adds all kinds of different elements and cultural styles into his music. Over all, I'd have to say the cd is great. Rafael keep makin' kick ass music. Definitely in my top 20 favorite guitarists.
Awesome!
author: Matt McGeeRafael is a great guitar player and this CD showcases that. I love the mixture of styles and influences each song has and I especially love the groove on "Deep Space Funk"!
DIFERENTE!!!
author: jose alejandro blancoGOOD CONCEPT , HAVEN'T HEARD OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN AWHILE IS KIND OF REFRESHING...LOVE THE VOICE MELODIES...
Mixture of jazz fusion shred bossa= rafael
author: jurereally fresh, great song writing, awesome rhythms, great lines and solos, really a must have cd :)If you like the clips, you'll love the cd :) take care
Different: I enjoy Led Zeppelin/Nirvana; including Mariachis
author: Maria PradoI like that Rafael incorporates his upbringing and honoring his mother's musicality. Since I don't particularly listen to Jazz; it was an eye opener. The musicians are extremely talented and awesome. If I had to pick a favorite tune it would be Miracle Road; where Rafael lets it all out.. My daughter is a fan of Rafael from the get go of Rock Star. She enjoyed the broad spectrum of talent and music these musicians truly displayed from their hearts. Thanks again; Maria Prado
Look out Vai & Satriani !
author: Mark PetersIf you enjoy the likes of Vai & Satriani you should not be disappointed with Acid Guitar. Everyone will have their favourites, for me - Slow Burn. Acid Guitar is worthy of being in anyone's collection. GREAT work Rafael.
A Welcome Change !!!
author: H-AustraliaThis CD proves that ive overloaded on the likes of vai, satch & petrucci for way too long. Moreira proves he can stand toe to toe with those guys on several occassions on this CD but its everything in between that really makes this album stand out for me. Great songwriting, catchy hooks and of course...ya gotta love the scat. Nice Work !
Truly innovative
author: DavidI was musically in a rut: Sick of the old instrumental rock album format and equally tired of the old jazz and fusion rehash found all over the place. Acid Guitar put the muse back in music for me. A fantastic album somewhere between Pat Metheny, Scofield and something with rock and roll fangs. This is the best album I've bought in a very long time. Listen in, if you like what you hear, the rest is even better!
Awsome

Funky, melodic and full of heart
author: LilaroMoreira’s Acid Guitar has not left my CD player since I got it. Truly a rare find, there isn’t one song on it that I don’t absolutely adore. It is definitely a great musical journey with plenty of sexy, spicy variety. Just turn it on and let him alternately murmur in your ear and rock your senses. Wonderful. . .

smooth funk
author: Teri CalmesI love the funky latin jazzy sound, perfect background music for entertaing friends!!!
Musically SUPERB! 100% Enjoyable. Solidly compose and performed!
author: Chris VFor those who enjoy music that breaks down borders and blends styles, this is for you. Rafa’s album has something for those whom enjoy contemporary jazz (Pat Metheny, Tonino Horta, Jaco Pastorious), Fusion (Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson) rock, progressive rock, melodic hard rock, ‘world music’, pop and even some funk … (NOTE: when I say contemporary jazz, I am not talking about ‘smooth jazz’). What is great however is that few musicians blend these styles and influence together well without it sounding forced and unmusical. Rafa has accomplished it in such a way that it simply flows well and feels to the listener like it belongs together. You can tell that he has his roots in both his Brazilian home as well as in the classics of both jazz and rock. Compositionally the music is outstanding. It pushes your ears but is still accessible. The musicianship is superb. The recording quality and mix is also excellent. You can’t go wrong. ENJOY!
pure Soul
author: Jeff BRafael is truly a MASTER. Sure, he can rip so hard it burns, but on this record, he makes you wait for it -- he is a real artist. Not just about the High, Intense moments that we all love, Rafa also explores the Laid Back points, the Easy Sunny mood, the "funky retro" stuff, and everything in between. The musical themes in this record echo each other from track to track (in the style of a good long Trip), and when the time is right, Rafael very subtly crescendos into more, more, and more soul until you suddenly find yourself at fever pitch and about to explode! If you are a fan of truly expressive ROCK that addresses those inexpressible intense feelings, or just a fan of good music, buy this CD. You will love it.
Soothing with a distinct guitar
author: JohnnyUtahI bought this CD after seeing this guy on TV and I love his style. The Cd is like nothing I have ever heard before.A south american influence that is calming with enough guitar to keep you from drifting into a coma. Love it. E
killer guitar playing!
author: JeffI fell in love wtih Rafael's playing on Rockstar INXS. this is one gifted guy and this CD shows what he is capable. Simply incredible guitar playing!
Fresh release, running strong on hard-fusion, funk, bossa-nova. Skilled musician
author: Leo ZukerThis is the first time I heard Moreira´s music; maybe I´ve heard him before on some pop songs, but I´m not shure. Being latin-american (Chile), I love latin-american folk-music, I´m also a guitar player, and got my degree in latin-american music; from tango to samba. So playing the first tune got me going with the first seconds, some bossa rhythm, with a very jazzy feel also. Loads of Gambale and Metheny stylings. Great musicianship, amazing rhythm section, thumping basslines and very solid-yet-loose drumming. I reccomend it to anyone who wants to meet with a great brazilian guitarplayer, who diverses from hard prog-rock, to smooth jazz.
It doesn't get much tastier than this!
author: JeffThere are some recordings that become a soundtrack to your life, and this Metheny-meets-Vital-Tech-Tones work of art is one of those for me. Moriera certainly has the chops to shred with the best of them, but every time I expected a typical Petrucci-esque barrage, Rafael surprised me with creative and thoughtful ideas and phrases. If, like me, you're a fan of great drumming and bass playing as well as great guitar playing, you'll find the mix to be pretty much perfect. (I've got too many guitar instrumental CDs where the lead guitar buries brilliant contributions from the supporting musicians.) More, Moriera!
Smokin hot latin Les Paul
author: MichaelI agree with another reviewer here. The production on the guitar tracks should have been more up front and on top. This is a GUITAR CD by a great GUITARIST. Latin scat singing is a nice diversion, but we need the "crunch" that Rafael can provide. He will get it right next time. He is up and coming and you can hear strains of Beck, Lukather,Hoey, and others. His sound is unique and his music is soaring. He is a FORCE to be reckoned with on the guitar music scene.
A multiple guitar orgasm
author: HeidiThis CD is HOT!!! It's like a multiple guitar orgasm, with Rafael bringing you there over and over (and over).
Man he's good!...
author: El Chico GordoAlmost as good as me. Buy his album!
buy it
author: john ourafael shows his versatility on this CD, and it's a big reason why you see him playing with a variety of artists and why he is the guitarist in the house band for the TV reality show "rock star."

What a great CD!
author: AndiThis CD is simply amazing! I keep listening to it over and over again. It's such a cool sound and it just makes you whip your feet with the rhythm at once. Thanks for that, Rafael. And thanks to Steffi for playing that CD to me.
- author: Sebastian Buccheri
This is a 70s fusion album with a 21st feel. Bristling with high octane solos and a killer rhythm section. Rafael is an accomplished guitarist who plays with feel, awesome!

Meu querido, eu me orgulho do seu talento, da sua conquista e principalmente do seu caráter! Beijos!
New voice on guitar world! The sounds I´d like to write!
author: Marcus Vinicius CorreaMy brazilian pal Rafael made a powerful debut, mixing rock chops with brazilian harmonies like the ones found in the works of JObim, Djavan, Toninho Horta and others. It´s really amazing to hear a new voice on a world full of clones. Clones from Malmsteen, Petrucci, Vai, etc. Go Rafa GO!!!

author: Lene BarnesThis CD is absolutely amazing! Every song is beautifully composed and the textures he creates are astounding. Its nice to hear a guitar player play with heart, soul and emotion. I would highly recommend this CD. I havent taken out of my CD player since it came in the mail. Rafael, keep up dude I LOVE IT!!!
a incredible blend.....it can make a cloudy day seem more bright.
author: S. Hamiltonincredible blend of funk, jazz and rock metal held together throughout by a melodic vocal thread and punctuated by some incredible guitar work that has drive and tons of feeling. this album is not only extremely well crafted but equally as creative in the concept of blending the multiple genres with bias towards a Brazilian / South American feel. Acid Guitar has become one of my favorite guitar instrumental albums within my collection, up there next to Blow By Blow. I recommend playing it on a warm sunny day in the car with the sunroof and windows opened but if its not sunny out play it anyway. it can make a cloudy day seem more bright.
