notes

The San Francisco Bay Guardian calls them "a buckshot of sound..."

One of San Francisco's last surviving bands, Radio Noise spans the dial from Rock to Reggae, Ska to Pop. If you can't seem to find much worth listening to on the radio, then you should pick up "What it Takes."

The band's pedigree speaks for itself. All have spent years in local SF bands and national touring acts. The vibe that comes from years of experience makes the music greater than the sum of its parts. You can feel it at their live shows, and on this CD.

The group's songwriter, Erik Noyes, grew up on the bands of the 80s like the Specials, the English Beat, Echo and the Bunnymen, Elvis Costello, et al. He is a seasoned veteran of such bands and Bad Manners, The Mr. T Experience, Hoodlum Empire and the Mudsharks. All of this experience comes to bear in an explosive sound. Track after track of mile-wide hooks will keep this CD in your rotation for years.

I stumbled on the cd and just got hooked. It is feel good music and you cant help but be happy when you hear it.Schizophrenia Suffer is a fantastic track. Great horns and a toe tapping beat. Krueger Park is a great instumental with great horns and that wonderful Hammond sound. You must buy this CD.

  • This music is like some sort of miracle...

You cannot possibly listen to this music and not be happy. It's beautifully brilliant, and gorgeously upbeat, without being irritating. Fun, unique, and just generally all-around good music.

  • Where did this CD come from?
    author: Brenton Klik

Umm, compaired to there earlier songs, this CD is a mile apart. Thier sound is completely different, and SO much better. Upbeat songs that make you want to skank, and an instrumental for good measure. If you've never heard them before, think of Reel Big Fish and take away all the sexual innuendoes. A must have for any ska fan.

  • Jump around sound!!

Music that will grab you and get your head boppin and feet movin. This is a great album that will make any gathering a happy place. The excellent melding of horns, vocals and beats make me wonder, how have these guys been under the national radar to this point.
