Hilary's stunning voice and Grant's extraordinarily dexterous guitar combine to deliver blues, ballads and self-penned songs all laced with energy and boundless humour.

notes

Hilary Spencer and Grant Baynham formed their musical partnership in 2001. They realised that they had something very special here and have been proved right at venues all over the UK.
Hilary is already well-known in North America as the lead voice of award-winning acappella trio ARTISAN and Grant attained fame in the UK with four years as a presenter on prime-time TV. He also became the regular comic songsmith on several nation-wide radio shows which may explain how he became the country's most published songwriter - and why he's always in a hurry. He's fast, frenetic, funny and friendly - and he plays guitar like a man with six hands.

Both Hilary and Grant have a love for all things musical and their tastes are reflected in the breadth of material on offer on "Plenty". More than half the songs are Grant's own but you will also find comedy classics by America's Lou and Peter Berryman,Britain's Jake Thackray and a staggering version of the immortal Edith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose".

Individually Hilary and Grant are consummate entertainers in their own right: together they are dazzling.

  • Leaves you wanting more.
    author: Anne Bate

The only trouble with this CD is; it leaves you wanting more. More of the dry, witty, fast-fingered Jake Thackray stuff, (or the home-grown Baynham stylistic homages that can be as captivating as the real thing.) More of the tuneful ballads, more blues, more ... well, everything. And especially more of Grant's guitar which I could listen to all day. With or without the lyrics. Still and all, I'd like to see the duo focus on one or two of their amazing range of genres, and run with that to a full length CD so that this lazy listener at least doesn't have to cope with so many changes of mood and style but can just lie back and tap along!
