With the musical influences of artists such as CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary and Selah; PURPOSE is known for their harmonic blend and their inspirational, uplifting, and heartfelt performances. In addition to their sound, PURPOSE brings to the stage an ability to connect with their audience by luring them into an interactive and empowering praise and worship experience through self-reflective humor and the sharing of personal triumphs.
Formed in October 2001 and at a mere seven months after inception, PURPOSE won the first ever small groups competition of the Babbie Mason Music Conference International and earned the accolades of being the conference's overall Grand Prize winner. As a result, PURPOSE went on to compete internationally at the Gospel Music Association "Seminar in the Rockies" in Estes Park, Colorado; placing 4th in the group category. In late 2002, PURPOSE recorded their debut project entitled, "According To His...PURPOSE".
PURPOSE have performed their unique a capella version of "The Star Spangled Banner" (twice) for the NFL team Carolina Panthers (Monday Night Football; a stadium of 73,000 fans), the ECHL Charlotte Checkers hockey team and the MBL Hickory Crawdads baseball team. PURPOSE have opened for such gospel artists as multiple Grammy, Dove, and Stellar Award winner CeCe Winans, Dove Award winner Ron Kenoly, Alicia Williamson-Garcia, Babbie Mason, Christian comedian Dennis Swanberg, and gospel rapper/actor, T-Bone.
PURPOSE have ventured to Colorado, Virginia, South Carolina, and Georgia determined to fulfill their mission of "impacting the WORLD with the good news of Jesus Christ".
