notes

The truest origin of this group was a profound and amazing fascination with hip-hop culture and the MC element in particular. It has driven them though the years to create what is now known as Purest Form, in which they live to preserve that same fascination and energy.

Purest Form is a group of conscious individuals dedicated to preserving the true essence of the Hip Hop culture by representing it in its purest form.

  • Just Unbelievable!

This CD is remarkable in every sense of the word... in it's purest form. The wordplay is impeccable, each and every track on the album took you on 16 different adventures in hip hop. We here at inBox Magazine & DVD were happy to have the chance to do an artist profile on this group. Track #5 Life Sacrifices was my personal favorite.

  • It's About Time

It's about time that someone has taken hip hop back to the way it used to be! Refreshin mind blowin lyrics to stimulate your thought process is what this cd contains! I'm back after listening to the cd in depth and I just have to write another review to put my thoughts out there! First off 'My Spirit' is my theme song! This song is deep and keeps me going I HAVE to hear it at least once a day!! Every song on the album is HOTTTTTT! Shot out to Alabi on 'White Lies' that song is deep and mind bogglin - I guess what you don't know CAN hurt you - right? A-Quil is rockin on 'Verbal Virus' and spittin his lyrical genius on 'Life Sacrifices'! A-Ron keeps the cd hype with 'Emit' and 'Knuckle Up'. Dialek is hot! Like I said... 'My Spirit' is the ultimate lyrically and provides me with major motivation!! He's also doin it to the limit on 'Get Live'! I am truly lovin this CD - It's about time someone took hip hop back to where it belongs!! Keep it comin fellows! GREAT JOB!

  • A breath of fresh air!

This is what hip hop should be. A throw back to when hip hop was all about creativity and "balance" between the four elements, the Perfect Balance is reminicent of mid-nineties east coast hip hop. With beats that would make Dr. Dre and Kanye West blush and real lyricism that would make Eminem and Nas go back to thier rhyme books makes for good listening. I really enjoyed the turntablist element also, so much so that I thought the DJ could have been on it more. These guys are sure to get a record deal. 4 out of 4 stars!

  • Hot!!

I'd have to say this CD is pretty hot. The Beats are hot and the lyrics are in hip hop's "Purest Form". I'd have to say it's one of the best album's i've heard in Minnesota. Don't let any haters get in ya's way..I wish ya much sucess.

This CD IS THE BEST! The beats are so clear and very comparable to Dr. Dre's beats. I am so anxious to get my CD so I can put it on repeat in my car. I wish these guys much success in their goals in the industry. I know they will SUCCEED! The music industry needs Purest Form... O

  • Fresh, innovative, something hip hop has been missing for a while.

With their newest and biggest release to date "The Perfect Balance" the Saint Paul, MN group Purest Form hits a hip hop home run. The album is an amazing mix of socially conscious lyrics, banging beats and joints that are sure to get the party started whether you're alone in the car or have 20 of your closest friends over at the crib. The intensity picks up quickly with "The Anthem" on which Dialek, the groups defacto leader and producer, and A-Ron take turns delivering knockout blows on the mic. That same energy, though present throughout the album, is felt strongest again on the posse track "No Excuses" in which the group gives warning to all hip hop lovers and hopeful MC's that if we don't "stop the excuses and reach for the sky, hip hop will surely die!" This high energy track of lyrical jousting will have folks nodding their head to the beat and contemplating the message at the same time. Not to be outdone, additional group members Alabi and A-Quil shine on the album as well. Alabi delivers the chilling track "White Lies" with an aura reminiscent of early Rass Kass or Dead Prez work. Dialek's ear drum piercing beat will help ease the flow of this masterful 4 minutes of social criticism into your skull. A-Quil's lyrical talent shines through on the hauntingly genius "Life Sacrifices," the story of three people's journey through life and the twist of fate that brings them together on a dark road late one night. Storytelling this nice hasn't been seen since Ready to Die and Illmatic were newly released classics. The production on the entire album stands out as wildly innovative and creative. You won't find any nursery rhyme hooks or sampled children's songs on "The Perfect Balance" just raw, original lyricism delivered over beats that bring you back to the days of Pete Rock and DJ Premier, when you could listen to a whole album on repeat and nod your head so long your neck got sore. With variation from the street heavy sounds of "Universal Aves" to the banging party rhythym of "Get Live" there is a sound for every mood and social setting on this album. You may not have heard of Purest Form yet, but you don't want to be late hopping on this bandwagon. Dialek, A-Ron, A-Quil and Alabi along with DJ Suede make up one of the midwest's shining jewels of hip hop. If you've been fiending for a complete album, one that massages your earlobes as well as it does your brain, then "The Perfect Balance" is for you. Buy it now, and pick up a few extras for your friends, you won't disappoint them.
