notes
Pura Fe's voice soars the heavens, taking us on a visionary ride, elegantly stating the Indigenous influence on the birth of the Blues. This beautiful album is complete with songs of love, history and anthems for her Tuscarora Indian Nation of North Carolina.
Pura Fe´ explains the musical contributions made by Southeastern Indigenous people. "My Nation has been systematically disenfranchised and disregarded. Many people think we have nothing to do with the development of Southern culture. Not only were we captured and shipped off as slaves to West Africa and the Caribbean, we were bred together on slave plantations during colonization of our land. Also maroon colonies and the Underground Railroad ran through most of Indian occupied territory on old trade paths. African and Indian slaves were harbored, escorted and smuggled across the Canadian border through Indian country.
This union gave birth to a rich new culture blending religion, dance, and food, good looking people and the Blues! Many of these grandchildren became influential musicians. Charley Patton the first King of the Blues is Choctaw, Scrapper Blackwell is Cherokee, Jimi Hendrix, Don Cherry, Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, Lina Horne, Little Richard, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan. There are so many blues and jazz pioneers that have expressed their Native ancestry through their work."

Wonderful songs...
author: Peggy AnnPura Fe's Follow Your Hearts Desire takes you on a wonderfully unique musical journey. Her bluesy voice will send shivers down your spine...starting with the title track 'til the last note of the final tune, "Sweet Willie" a nostalgic ode to an old friend. Listen to the Deer Clan Singers, who appear on a few songs such as "Robin Dance" a blend of Native American voices that harmonize so well...they also appear on "Going Home" in a fabulous traditional Stomp Dance song that'll send you to a faraway place...This entire album is wonderful...its got the blues, native american, acoustic, folk songs, all in one...we're blessed to have Pura Fe's musical genius. Can't wait to hear what else this artist has in store!
