notes
Jonathan Thomas (a.k.a. Prolific) was born in Fresno, California, but grew up in the city of Pasadena (California). He is the younger of 2 children, as a child at the age of 3 his parents realized he had developed an ear and interest for music. He began playing the drums at the age of 6 and shortly after he learned to play other instruments such as the clarinet and the piano. Along with his ability to play music came the gift to compose as well. The challenge to make up melodies and lyrics to match seemed to be second nature. Later, poetry became his new found love. The 3 coexisting was bigger than anyone could have thought it to be, or to become, and this we know as "hip-hop". Prolific's life and music was interruptedby a series of devastating life events. When his Father left home, he became distraught and began selling drugs and working under false pretenses with close relatives (including his new founded father figure). Before it became to late and, Prolific found himself as another number in the system destroyed by corrupt music deals. Prolific moved from Los Angeles County to Fresno County, which proved to be a key resolution to many of his problems. He then, reunited with his father and found inner healing for his wounds that seemingly time had no cure for. Finally, on June 9th, approximately a week after his birthday he was born again. However this time there was a spiritual birth claiming Prolific as a chosen young man of God found himself back in hip-hop's cockpit (figuratively put). Prolific has performed with the likes of: Souls of Mischief, Hyrogliphics, Little Brother, Planet Asia, Lightheaded, Letta' J, KRS One (one of the pioneers of hip-hop music), Uprok records artists Mars ILL, MG! The Visionary, Deepspace5, and ILL Harmonics, CSR ent. artist Sevin, CL Ryders, Syntax Records recording artist Future Shock, Sackcloth Fashion, ManOfWar, Lojique, Acts 29, and Red Cloud, Threatt Muzik artist THA GIM, Gotee recording artist LA Symphony, Beatmart recordings artist Soul P and an underground favorite called The Basement. This is just a short list of accomplishments, considering the essence of Prolific and what this movement is all about. Stay tuned!!!

I didn't know what to expect when I heard this was a gospel hip-hop CD but Prolific definately silenced my doubts. Totally. At a time when commercial Hip-Hop has reached an all time low in originality & realism, it was so unexpected that a new genre could wake me up so much! The lyrics are so....flow-ey, but made as much sense as they did make you bop your head. He is I am is great soulful & soul-full. Let it Bang, grimey but with reason an in-the-whip tune & Press the upbeat club sure fire hit, Prolific's got it covered. 10/10....or 5/5 in this case. Who is this guy?!
