Hey!! Gotta say I love it!! So great and fresh, I really wish more artists like you were favored as opposed to the ones in mainstream culture. My favorite track is The Moon Over the Ruined Castle. Really great =D Can't wait for more of your creations!

  • Excellent!!

What a refreshing sound. Old school music with a modern sound. Very original. Greg Pattillo amazes me!

  • 12Random Roads Suite & 14 Interlude Slidy

    works for me!.

  • author: charles goyard

As lots of people already stated, the songs are real great. The thing I appreciate much is that plain, almost raw mix (apart a few reverb on some songs). You can ear everything. Every breath, every bow movement, every tap. You can feel the joy and fun the trio had recording together. A word for Peter (double bass): take your bow more often, those deep long basses and so good ! I wish I could listen to you live some day. Your disc hardly gets out of my cd player.

  • Very comfortable
    author: Sondre Ribe Øverby

I would really recommend everyone to buy this great piece. The tracks are not just very well composed, they're original and offer something entirely new that most people have yet to hear as well. The tracks are soft and smooth and can make you relax and feel good, but at the same time they are upbeat and give an energetic feeling. Five stars, hands down! Buy the album! Do it! Do it NAOUGHW!

  • Awesome!
    author: fabio1

Awesome album by Project! I was browsing their videos on youtube and decided to check out their cd. When I read that I could d/l the tracks in a convenient drm free mp3 format, I was sold!. The only reason I don´t give the album 5 stars is that, while the project music is great, I still prefer their live performances. hey, maybe a live album someday, huh? cheers from Sao Paulo, Brazil!

  • creatives & quality
    author: Steve W Emmert

although i have only bought the mp3 i appreciate the sound quality of the recording. the music itself is great in composition and style. we (my wife and me) realy enjoy this masterpiece in creativity.

Jethro Till flute style on steroids. Cello classic sounds but with energy. Intelligence with a body. Stimulant on a rainy day

  • Perfeito!!!

  • Great Recording
    author: Steve Cox

I am very happy with this recording. It offers excellent musicianship, recorded and mixed well, and the compositions are very unique. I look forward to hearing more recordings by PROJECT.

  • Breathtaking!
    author: Paola Cardias Soares

I badly have words in portuguese (I'm from Brazil) to express how amazing this album is! Audacious and strong; every song in the album is full of energy. Wish you three the sucess you deserve!

  • Muy Bueno!

These guys have an interesting, awesome new sound I'm more than willing to listen to.

  • Merci, Merci!
    author: Ugo

It's so good to hear something that fresh and authentic... This album is truely a masterpiece, all the strenghts of numerous influences melted into a powerful piece of poetry... S'il vous plait, another album!

  • Well Done

I am astonished. the end. greg patillo is my hero and he harmonizes well with the other two. I listen to the album on repeat daily.

  • Awesome
    author: Adam Baldwin

Every once in a while, I come across an artist or band that has such a powerful musical style that I can clearly see that they are pushing music forward. This is one of those bands. I've simply never heard these combination of instruments played in this manner. I've never heard these genres of music expressed in this way. At its core, Project is *exciting* music, and that is truly a rarity these days. Kudos to these excellent musicians to take old instruments and old musical styles and inject them with new vigor. Sure, every song might not appeal to you, or maybe none of them do. If so, then don't buy it. But it's hard to argue that there is much else out there like it. I kind of look at it as classical music modernized, with a bit of jazz and a tiny bit of hip-hop thrown in. My jaw drops watching these guys play. I can't wait to see what their next album produces.

  • Probably the best album on CD Baby to date
    author: Tachie Billano

Ladies and gents, buy this album. I mean, holy cow, you might forget all other new artists out there when you hear this one. You'll be blown away with the breadth and depth of their music, the striking originality of their arrangements, and the brilliance of their musical skills. I never imagined a mere 3-man classical-instrument "band" -- a cellist, a bass player and a beatboxing flautist -- could take me through a seamless weave of classical orchestrations, jazz, hip hop, waltz, blues, flamenco, tango, avante garde, pop, rock, all in one album! Bravo, encore!

  • Some great songs
    author: Zac

I love the first 2 tracks on this album. But generally, I find many of the tracks have too strong a classical influence. This bores me personally... Also, the tracks are generally very short, some only 2 or 3 minutes long, so I exoected much more material in a 14 track CD!!! They do have, however, a very original sound.

  • Awesome
    author: Matt

One of the most original bands I have heard in a long time. The combination of classical instruments with new age beats leads to a unique sound.

  • A milestone for me
    author: Jeppen

I have been a faithful supporter of free culture for a very long time, but these guys definitely deserve the money this album costs. In general, this site has convinced me that some music should be bought. The sound is so great, and if you listen through it a couple of times, new details will reveal themselves. Very interesting.. Although "Project" has to be the most lazy band name I have ever heard of :D Why not call the album "Untitled" while they're at it?

  • AWsome sound
    author: Krysten Bercaw

I love the great use of beatboxing with a flute!! As a flute player this is soemething i will try to incorperate this into my playing!

  • Fantastic Artistry
    author: Joe Dolivo

The free advertising on YouTube really paid off. I watched a few videos and knew I wanted the CD; it didn't disappoint! Support independent music! Purchase this fantastic album!

  • pretty good
    author: Jonathan

Good music, catchy and fun. Not something I listen to all the time, but good background/relaxing music.

  • Fantastic!
    author: Peter Cardozo Losch

My wife discovered the work of Greg Pattillo on the Internet and guess what: She bought a transverse flute and is learning to play the instrument! The purchase of the CD was a natural step to meet other work of genius called Greg Pattillo. The CD is fantastic and all the members of impeccable. I recommend everyone to purchase this CD.

  • cool stuff
    author: anonny

also saw this guy beatboxing with a flute on youtube. there's not quite as much emphasis on the beatboxing as i'd like, but there are a handful of really cool songs. definitely worth buying to support such a different sound.

  • Superb

Discovered there guy from their YouTube videos. I was completely blown away when I first saw the videos. This album won't be a letdown, I promise you that.

  • LOVE IT
    author: amna

Classical music and Jazz blend - I LOVE IT !!

  • Even my budding musician 2.5 yr old son likes it!
    author: SkyRed70

I came to this site for Beddy Ford, having been introduced to them from DirecTv's 101. I decided to surf around to see what else was on this site and stumbled across Project's Winter in June. When I first listened to the clips of this, I wasn't sure I'd like it because I'm really more of a classic jazz kind of girl. However, I do have pretty eclectic tastes in music, and something kept drawing me back to listen to the clips again so I went out on a limb and bought it. And I really like it! So glad I bought it...

  • Wow!
    author: Travis

These guys are great, no doubt about it. the first three songs on the album are my favorite by far, but the entire album is an experience! Everyone needs to buy this album!

  • Neo-Jazz
    author: Todd Laderer

I'm very happy I bought Project's Winter in June from CDbaby. I am one of many who discovered Patillo on YouTube and eventually Stephenson and Seymour. My favorites are Interlude Slidy (14)and Random Roads Suite: The Puzzle (10). I wish Project the best of luck and hope to hear the music in a movie (preferably a spy movie) and perhaps a videogame (hey they make the same amount of money as movies do). I think Caribou and Starbucks need some copies to sell too. Maybe as a hidden track, the Peter & the Wolf Suite can be on the CD or whatever else that would not be troublesome. Somebody call Disney and tell them they have to get this awesome music trio. JUST BUY THE CD, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

  • Brilliant!
    author: Luke Springer

Love the CD! My new favorite. Amazing stuff... I'm looking forward to Album 2. Keep up the good work... you're AWESOME!

  • Really something different
    author: Valtteri Salmela

What a great record! Very skilled musicians and the flute-cello-contrabass combo is just awesome. I love the sound and they're all doing great work. Cheers.

  • Smooth
    author: Courtney

Oh, I love this album. The musicians play so well together, each clearly a master of his instrument. Creative, unique, and wonderful. It's definitely a new favorite of mine.

  • with a smile
    author: matthias Jackisch

I like it, my wife too, the 11 years old son loves it, the 9 years old too and our little two years old Boy is always dancing from the first note.

  • The next Ian Anderson
    author: Ben Shirley

I also discovered these musicians though youtube. This is truly a great album. Its good to see that Greg is not doing the more comedic stuff like the Mario theme song on here. This disc is a very tasteful mix of jazz, funk and also some hints of classical and folk. They make great use of the sparse instrumentation. You really get to hear the character of the instruments and the unique playing styles of the musicians. Of course what I like the best is Greg's flute sound. I'm a huge second generation Jethro Tull fan, and Greg is the closest I've heard to the sound that Ian Anderson archived. This similarity is in no way a negative thing. Greg is doing a great thing in continuing this sound where so many others have tried but fell short. Above that he is adding his own personality including the hiphop influenced beat boxing. Some I have talked to are bothered by the beatboxing. If you are it's not too over the top on this album except in a few songs. I personally love it. I see it as a further extension to the highly versatile expression that can be archived on the flute if it is in the hands of a master like Greg Pattillo. Keep up the good work!

  • author: Nano

Really great recording. Unique "jazz" (free jazz, manouche? I can't set words on it) style music. Just envious of the performance by Greg Patillo.

  • Love it!
    author: Katrina Sharp

I love this album. You will too. Buy it now.

  • ONE OF A KIND
    author: Jared Gulliford

a great album for any music fan. Creative and the musicianship is excellent. Truely a unqiue combination

  • awsome!

  • This is amazing.
    author: Darwin Chan

I totally do not regret coming across you guys on youtube.com with that video in Union Station, which compelled me to click on that link and buy this CD. Totally do not regret it.

  • Hey
    author: Jordan

Hey you guys my name is Jordan. I was at the school you performed today at Wheatland. You guys were AWESOME!!!! Those songs were great to.

  • Amazing
    author: Hugo Sousa

I got the cd from the mail as i was going out, put in the car's cd player and enjoyed the musics until i got to my destination. When i arrived i just kept sitting and listened to the very last second of the album. The mixture of the sounds from the cello, the bass and the flute alongside with the beatbox, as well as the taps on the instruments bring such melody. It's really a wonderful work!

  • Question for Greg Pattillo
    author: Fluteplayer

Your album was great! Well, I play flute and I was wondering how you did it. It is the coolest thing and I would like to learn how to do it. Please email me at greendolphin91@yahoo.com

  • Missed you at VanderCook
    author: Jessica McIlquham

The album is incredible! I loved it from the first moment of Fables and was grooving until the end. I wish I could have seen PROJECT when they visited VanderCook but, most unfortunately, other rehearsal obligations came up. I DEARLY hope to see them in the fall, and until then, congratulations on an amazing colaboration and good luck on the rest of your tour - safe travels!

  • Question for Greg:
    author: Erika Crown

I'm astonished by PROJECT's sense of collaboration. I'm interested in knowing where the three of you have studied music. Oh and Greg, I've never heard beatbox flute before. How did you discover such a talent? I watched the YouTube clips and was seriously taken aback. I actually found myself applauding at the laptop screen. I would really like to get a chance to speak with PROJECT. Please e-mail e_crown@hotmail.com

  • author: Faith Gernhardt

Great! Sorry, I am not a musician.. I really like the way the artists play the instruments together and off each other.

  • Inspiring
    author: Scott

This album is one of a kind. I started by listening to Greg's beatboxing flute skills because of my love for hip-hop. After a while, I heard their full ensemble playing, and I was utterly astonished. The talent and creativity that is shown in a professional and fresh style by this group of phenomenal musicians cannot be passed over. It is a must for anyone who considers themself a fan of almost ANY genre of music!

  • PROJECT!!
    author: Rüdy

Amazing music. This gives me a bit more confidence and inspiration for my jazz band. I am a bit dissapointed Greg doesn't go to that high note in "Puzzle", but none the less, excellent work.

  • like bare feet after a run...
    author: Erika

I stumbled across Greg and Eric while searching for some jazz flute and was captivated by their unique abilities. The album is invigorating -- I like to compare it to the feeling of bare feet after a long run.. refreshing.

    author: Karla Cisneros

This is an amazing CD! I saw Greg Pattill on Youtube and was captured at once and ordered the CD. At first I was disappointed that 'Winter in June' was a trio and not just Greg, but what a wonderful surprise. Together these guys are just incredible, though I'm still partial to my superstar flute guy, Greg.

    author: WookieD

After first seeing Greg Patillo on Youtube I've been looking forward to owning some of his music. I was a little dissapointed that the collaboration didn't lean more towards the jazz/funk/hip-hop that originally hooked me, but it's been on non-stop andI'm already looking forward to the next album!

  • Project - Winter in June
    author: Ricky Goodall

As a musician I am always impressed to hear something off of the beaten path, and Project is just that. I find their talent and creativity intriguing. I would only say that their music "sometime" lacks direction or climax, but only sometimes. The music itself sounds great, with so many interesting melodies. Money VERY WELL spend

  • VERY IMPRESSIVE

Hello to All, A big thank you for this golden case containing a pure moment of delight. I regret that the disk is so fast listened to... No waste! Haaa Dear Patilio , I shall have pleasure has to make a "ox"(French expression "taper le boeuf" to type the ox(beef) " = to play with the friends) with you when you will come to Paris. My husband is professional cellist in a symphony orchestra in Paris. It has been 45 years since he(it) plays yes yes! He(it) began has 3 and a half the year. I play the flute for 3 years as a maintaining lunatic he(it) do not stay in me more than the beatboxing has to learn(teach) it is too strong! Winter in June is FORMIDABLE. Your baby is made a success! In when the fellow man? In the pleasure to see you still and still on Youtube and to be able to hear(understand) you in your next projects. I love The world of the music is so crazy! In when musical instruments in all the hands has the place of rifles.... Caroline p.s.: sorry!!! but my speak english is bad

  • wow
    author: Matt

Unique sound. Great groove. A must buy. Only disappointment is the short length: 34 min. Will get what they put out next.

  • So chill.
    author: Kira Petersson Martin

Every time I listen to this CD, I can't believe what a wise impulse buy this was! I saw Pattillo's Youtube video and decided to try the CD, and I love it. Every time I listen to it I just melt away. It's a very chill record, well suited to just hanging out, reading a book, doing homework or schmoozing. Of the 14 tracks, I have yet to hear one that I dislike. "The Puzzle" is a slow and introspective melody that is easy to get lost in. Track 14, "Interlude: Slidy," is a mediterranean cum harlem cum spaghetti western piece that is at once foreign and familiar. The titular "Winter in June" feels, to me, like it's telling a story - though I have no idea where it's going. "Sweet Pea" has unexpected attitude and spunk, and "Semuta" makes me want to do something important. Other notable tracks are "Fables of Faubus," "2nd Happiest Song in the World," though everything on this disc is solid and well done. I would highly recommend this album to any and all fans of jazz, classical music, salsa, beat boxing, world music, experimental movements and movie soundtracks. So, basically, I should hope everyone likes this.

my younger sister just said: "These guys are doing, of what I´ve always dreamed. Effects, of which I thought, it would be so cool, if I can do it on an instrument". Each time I listen to it I find something new and I have to laugh. But on the next CD, I have to it admit, I would be curious how the flute sounds, from time to time, in the "natural" way... I´m waiting for more!

This is a proper album, first time I listened to it had media player on shuffle accidentally and it ruined it for me. Played in the correct order this album is a journey of sounds which takes you through various moods in the most perfectly, beautiful way. I am proud I own this album, it's very tasty food for both the soul and the ears. Yes, it is quite short and I was left wanting more ... but thats surely a good thing! I hope these guys keep creating amazing albums and bring their arses over to the uk and give us a little tour.

  • Therapy for jaded lugs
    author: Kev

A surprisingly and satisfyingly good record. I expected the fusion of different styles to sound forced or contrived in places, but it sounds really natural and organic throughout - a testament to the talent of the musicians involved. The recordings sound great but on a few tunes the 'cello seems to sit a little high in the mix. Not enough to lose any marks though. Great record.

Holy crap. The thing that sets Project apart from other trios is their unique ability to take you on a musical venture. You can tell that this album took time, sweat and funk to make it such an amazing ride. This album is a great mix of all sorts. If you are not 100% satisfied with this album, I will personally refund your money to an organization that can teach you what good music is. The music is robust, colorful and full of talent which makes this an excellent choice to buy. Thanks guys for unleashing your beasts and angels over these ears!

  • Awesome!

I love your music! The sound is unique and refreshing. I can't wait to hear more.

  • excellent
    author: neal hoogenboom

I've been following the youtube videos for quite some time, and I'm very glad they finally came out with an album. I do think they could pick up another precussion element, however, this album is way polished and the songs thoroughly orchestrated and arranged. As a soul/hip hop fan this definitely appeals to me.

  • Amazing!
    author: Sarah Bouthillier

This is a CD that you put in for the first time and are shocked at how amazing and exciting it is. I am thrilled with this album. One of my students wants to learn some of the pieces too!

Great album - really tight musicianship and a great recorded sound -fits the style really well. Would love to hear these boys with a bigger production. Greg's fluteboxing is solid throughout and eric contributes some amazing cello parts creating melodies ranging from moody to epic. Great CD for anyone looking for something different.

    author: Art M

After seeing the youtube videos of solo and group performances by these guys, I didn't hesitate to buy the album. I am quite pleased with the it. Excellent quality, plenty of low-end presence, and an astounding ability to weave together sounds into great songs. This album is is unique in my collection. • Beyond Awesome!
    author: Betty Steele

I bought the CD for my daughter. She just started playing the flute 18 months ago, and I wanted to expose her to all aspects of flute playing. Thinking outside of the box. She loved it, and so did I. I just think its great that someone who has worked so hard is now making it big.

  • VERY Unique
    author: Larissa

WOW! i love this cd! im planning on buying it soon. it puts me in a great mood Ü

  • Winter in June
    author: Johnie Mays

Well Greg, it's finally out! Great CD and you guys have made a very impressive debut. Classical music is cool now....you guys are the best.

  • Good memories
    author: Cedric Ching

I have to agree with Simon in saying that Greg's beatboxing videos were what initially drew me in. Ever since I've gotten their CD in the mail, I've been listening to Semuta (track 9) on a loop. Incredible! Thank you to Project for the cool music, and you too CDBaby for your amusing emails!

  • Something completely different
    author: Ben Dover

Never had I heard something like this before. The cd came pretty fast after I'd ordered it and in a week I had listened through it for about a dozen times. One of the best records I've heard all year. It's not just a bunch of great songs, as an album it's solid and tells a good story.

  • £5 !!! How?!!?
    author: Simon Payne

The beatboxing drew me in and got my attention first of all but this guy's a demon flute player without it! The cello fella's totally amazing too and together they're F*!-ng Tip-Top!

  • Tastey
    author: micah lo

This is really fantastic. I am a 15 year old, and I have been playing flute for about 9 years. I love this stuff. I remember when i learned to play The Moon Over the Ruined Castle in Suzuki book 1. I plan on buying this album and i hope a new one comes out soon.

  • Highly Original!
    author: Robert S

I don't usually buy CDs anymore. But I made an exception for this, and do not regret it. A must have for any true music enthusiast. Greg has made the flute "cool" in many people's opinions now. Eric and Peter add to the creativity to make for an original sound. Also, I noticed a previous comment saying they would prefer this on vinyl. I would like to second that. I'm more of a record collector.

  • Better than best.
    author: Pindaros

This cd is totally stuck in my player and it doesn't seem that it will be replaced any time soon... I do have the occasional "break" with Acoustic Ladyland - a "similar-in-aesthetics" group. One thing though: I'd prefer thing on vinyl just because my turntable sounds better than my dvd...

  • inspector amazing!
    author: mary

please, give us more. what a gift!!!

  • Thank you!!!
    author: Alicia

This is an amazing album! I love listening to it and find myself singing the songs ALL the time! The musicians are incredible and the quality is awesome. I want to thank this group for making this- Thank you SO much!!

  • Superb Excellence
    author: amy

If you love music that feels like it is being played right in your car as you drive, filled with passion and the true integrity of excellent musicianship, then this CD is for you. The "beatbox" flute player (made popular on YouTube) teams up with a Viola player as well as Upright Bass to deliver 14 tracks that will leave you craving more. You can feel the classical and jazz roots fused with a touch of fluidity familiar in arabian music and streetbeat. Very classy, well groomed, this trio is tight.

  • Amazed
    author: max balsano

greatness is all i can say. im just hungry for more project.

  • Awesome, jaw-dropping, fantastic
    author: Karsten Dambekalns

Now I'm simply looking forward to the next release... :)

  • Great music!
    author: Thom Cleland

I love the combination of instruments here. You never get to hear flute with this kind of sound, and that's why I love the CD. I've been playing flute for several years now and every song reminds me of the versatility of the instrument. I can't wait to start work on extended techniques so I can do stuff like this. Thanks for the CD, and may you make many more! This music makes Trig homework interesting!

  • author: Dr. Nick Curry

This is a fantastic CD that not only brings the funk but also has incredibly refined and tasteful playing throughout.
