Album Notes

Chris Fournier released several successful solo electronic/progressive rock CDs in the 1990s under the Fonya psuedonym. Project Moonbeam came about as a collection of pieces he composed after the Fonya years while working to get his professional recording studio understood and operational. In the end, this activity turned out to be an excellent three-year learning experience during which Chris got to work with some very talented musicians (Cyndee Lee Rule, Anthony Fournier, Nick Kerzner, Tobe London, Jim Kelsey, and Steve Bosse) - these recordings are the result.

Beautiful Spacey (mostly) instrumental music

The title of this little review says it all, no ? I used to listen to Chris Fournier's Fonya albums many years ago already. This one is maybe better than most of the FONYA records, actually... It's varied, it's got a real durmmer on many tracks, whihc is much better than the rather cold & dry programmed drums on the Fonya records. It is varied, well-produced, and presents a clever mix of space rock, progressive rock, a little bit of electro music elements (not more than in early Porcupine Tree's records anyway) and quite a bit of atmospheric & ethereal dreamy music. There are good melodies, a good mix of modern, cristalline synth sounds mixed with older classic textures like mellotron strings, moogs, etc. The guitar solos are brilliant and Chris is still a pretty good bassist that reminds me a little bit of Chris Squire from Yes. The inclusion of the electric violin of Cindee Lee Rule on most tracks definitely brings something special and original to the arrangements. As reagrds t
