The Professor Pocket ® Our Hawaiian Hula Adventure CD takes Professor Pocket, Desi the Dinosaur and Chico the Chicken on another bilingual musical adventure…this time to the Hawaiian Islands! While at the beach, they surf with the Big Kahuna (played by Billy Jonas), dance the hula, and visit a volcano! A silly bilingual storyline, 6 original songs and a remake of the popular Latin American folk song, “ Sana, Sana”, are sure to get the whole family singing and speaking along in Spanish. The CD also comes with a companion booklet that includes song translations and key vocabulary words. For kids of all ages!

As a multicultural family ourselves, we design all our products based on our own first hand experiences growing up and raising children in bilingual homes. Our lovable characters, silly stories and catchy songs get kids both young and old laughing and singing along.

How We Are Different
Professor Pocket takes a completely fresh approach to language introduction. Instead of bombarding listeners with vocabulary words, we seamlessly weave English and Spanish storytelling throughout our CDs and reinforce key concepts and vocabulary through songs. All of this is done from the perspective of our lovable, sometimes silly characters, Professor Pocket, Desi the Dinosaur and Chico the Chicken.
Desi the Dinosaur and Chico the Chicken often sing and speak full sentences in Spanish to enable greater contextual understanding while Professor Pocket ensures that everyone is following along by primarily speaking in English. Our catchy, original tunes further engage listeners. Not only do our songs give children a chance to practice new Spanish pronunciations, but they also increase the likelihood of retention.
Why Use Our Products?
Experts agree that the earlier you expose your children to additional languages, the better! Why? At a very early age, children start to prune away sounds they do not hear regularly. Language learning is a lifelong process and beginning the process at a young age builds a basis for proficiency later in life. In addition, children who are exposed to multiple languages often show superior problem solving and math skills, increased overall school performance, and better cross-cultural understanding.
According to Kendall King and Alison Mackey, linguists and authors of The Bilingual Edge, “bilingual children have specific advantages over monolingual children, particularly in areas like metalinguistic awareness, creativity, and the ability to control linguistic processing.”
About The Creators
Nathalie Simmons Jorge and Paula Jorge Guglielmino started Professor Pocket in January 2005 with the hope of empowering more families to raise their children bilingually. Dissatisfied with the existing bilingual children’s products available, Nathalie and Paula (also sisters-in-law) joined forces to create products that would not only hold the attention of children, but would also be enjoyable for adults.
Paula and Nathalie co-write and direct all the Professor Pocket® musical adventures together, despite living across the country from one another. They have partnered with talented actors and musicians who help create catchy melodies and produce professional quality audio CDs. They are always working hard on developing new products for Professor Pocket.
Nathalie Simmons Jorge received her bachelor degree in mathematics from University of Virginia and her MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School (UNC-Chapel Hill). She lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Carlos and her two bilingual children, Louis and Sophie.
Paula Jorge Guglielmino received her bachelor degree in sociology from University of California, San Diego and her MBA from Pepperdine University. Paula is a native Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic. She and her husband live in Long Beach, CA and are expecting their first child this year.

Hola Hula!
author: Liz DannemannThis CD is just as good as the first Professor Pocket creation! My 4 year old asks before I even get out of the driveway to play Professor Pocket. The tunes are catchy, and as a parent, I love that there is a story line. As a teacher, I value that the Spanish and English vocabulary work in tandem to help kids learn the language. The characters, Chico and Desi, are so lovable. You can't go wrong with Professor Pocket adventures
Awesome CD for kids to learn Spanish!
author: Michele CHambersMy 8 year old is already a raving Professor Pocket fan! We received our CD on Friday and he listened to it 10 times by Monday! 10 times!! And I still like the CD too! You just don't get tired of the fun, upbeat music and story. After listending to the CD for the first time, my son wanted to know when the 3rd CD would be available and was already negotiating for what work he could do to earn the 3rd CD. It's and added bonus and adds a really "cool" factor that Billy Jonas (www.billyjonas.com) plays "el gran Kahuna". This is a great fun, learning experience for your child and is a PERFECT gift for birthday parties, Christmas, and baby showers! In a nutshell, superb, fun, bilingual story and music for the entire family.
