****

Welcome to the new Ladies Night.

This project was originally released in 1996 on another label. As with its immediate predecessor Metal, Ladies Night has been remixed and remastered to match the audio quality of my 2000 release Handwritten Notes.

To commemorate this re-release on my own label, I have included three never-before heard tracks from the original 1995/1996 sessions.

While the two projects were recorded close together in time, Ladies Night had a different feel from Metal. It is a more extreme record, at moments more groove-oriented, at other moments more moody and sensuous. This may have something to do with the rhythms and textures I was exploring at the time. I was striving for new levels of feeling and intensity by stepping further outside the conventions of the guitar.

Ladies Night represented another step forward in my evolution as a musician and performer. I still perform many of these tunes at every concert. I hope you enjoy the new Ladies Night.

Thanks for listening.

  • Spirit

Preston Reed is always refreshing and engrossing to listen to. While this album is different enough from some of his other work to keep you interested, my two favorite albums of his are still Handwritten Notes and Ladies Night. Many thanks to Preston for producing such unique guitar music.

percusive guitar strummer, somewhat reminicent of prev. efforts, some good new melodies, some same verse same as the first. What a Jig How HE do dat.

  • Preston Reed is some form of god.
    author: Avid Fan

Attended a teaching seminar of Preston's at the Kirkmichael International guitar Festival, and the experience of seeing him perform some of his songs live, and see his technique really encouraged me to look outside of traditional playing methods to develop a unique sound. Truly original and outstanding, i would definitely rate this record as one of the best that i own.

After seeing the man at work I can say he is nothing short of unbelievable. One of the greatest in the world, his stylings simply must be heard.

  • Just the best

I had the chance to see Preston in concert and I immediately purchased his cd Ladies Night. It was the single greatest evening of music I have ever experienced. What a great talent.

  • Is it your first time (with Preston)?
    author: Daniel

I have all of Preston's records except for this one, which somehow eluded me for years. I bought this because it was remastered and has 3 new tracks that weren't on the original record (that I never owned before...) What I can say is that Preston's technique has evolved over time and that his first record is very different from his most recent (2000's "Handwritten Notes"). It so happens that my three favorite PR albums are the three offered at CD Baby: if you are new to Preston Reed and don't own any of his records, start with "Handwritten Notes". If you already own some Preston and like it enough to be seeking out another album, this is a great second choice.

  • MASTERFULLY ACOUSTIC, PERCUSSIVE AND EXPRESSIVE
    author: PHIL DOMINISKI

Super re-recording and re-issue Preston. This cd could have easily been titled: Presto! Wood, strings and spirits for the ears! The bonus peices are beautiful. Humbling and inspiring.
