notes
Preacher Jack, the legendary boogie woogie piano player, was born and raised in the Boston area and has been performing his fiery renditions of classic country, gospel and rockabilly for over 40 years. In the 1980’s Jack released two acclaimed albums on Rounder Records and subsequently released a number of brilliant recordings. Cow Island Music is proud to release these historic recordings from two long lost sessions dating back to 1982 and 1996.
The 1982 session was recorded by electronics wizard Richard Burwen and covers a wide range of material. The 1996 session was recorded on what would have been Hank Williams, 73rd birthday. Jack pays homage to Hank and also includes two soul stirring gospel numbers to end the session. Jack’s passion and love for these songs shines throughout the recordings and we get an intimate glimpse into Jack's personality on the session and song introductions. Liner notes are by Elijah Wald
“The only thing that can surpass Preacher Jack’s talent is his energy and passion for what he does” –George Thorogood

author: J.R.HarlowThe 'Preacher' never fails to deliver.Once again he comes across with a selection of material delivered in his own inimitable style. One has to wonder what this c.d. would have sounded like with a backing band giving support(not that he needs it) It's a pity that Jack throughout his career has only had four c.d's and two albums released. The man deserves to have far more product issued. And wouldn't it be great if we had a dvd of Jack in concert. For anyone who likes their music sung from the soul then this c.d. is strongly recommended.

author: lisbeth norskov andersenPreacher Jack is one h... of a boogiepianoplayer with a rough but soulfull voice and a strong message to all of us. Rock and roll will help you quite a long stretch of the way, and if it fails, you can put your trust in The Lords hands. Jack is out of the Jerry Lee Lewis school, off course, but he certaily has his own unique playing and vocal style, and it swings and rocks and growls like mad. There is a few other albums by him to be found on the net, and I recommend them all. Great music for real human beings. God bless you, Preacher!
