notes

"The First Two Albums" is, as the name suggests, a compilation of the Poxy Boggards' first two albums, Bawdy Parts and Barley Legal.
Bawdy Parts was recorded nearly a decade ago, and Barley Legal was recorded two years after that. They stand as milestones in the band's history and progress.

ABOUT THE BAND.

The Poxy Boggards were founded in 1993 in a shabby apartment in Long Beach, California. They came together exclusively to perform at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, in Devore, California, but (much to their surprise) they have found that their popularity has extended beyond the world of burlap, bodices and turkey legs.

Today, the Boggards continue to peform yearly at the Southern California Renaissance Faire - www.renfair.com - and perform at other venues in the area a few times a year.

  • Always the BEST!
    author: Sorcha

I got this 2 CD set to complete my collection as my original discs had mysteriously disappeared. Someone else obviously loved The Boggards as much as I do! These gentlemen harmonize beautifully! The mixture of traditional, original and just plain funny is GREAT!

  • good original songs

nice cds collection compiling well harmonized traditional and original songs great fun to learn and have in a social situation

  • fan-diddly-tastic

I bought their 2 disc set on a whim. Boy howdy am I glad I did. Almost makes me want to start going to the Ren-Faire again.

  • Delectable

It is hard to find good drinking music, this is IT!

  • Finnegan's Wake is a must!
    author: Sophia

The Finnegan's Wake song is one of my 13 year old daughter's favourite songs ever! Mine too. It is great fun to discuss the old fashioned terminology in some of the more colorful songs with her too. Knowledge is power!

  • Enjoyable
    author: Joel Schonbrunn

I enjoyed this double release, but I find the engineering/audio production of these two albums to be lesser than their more recent releases. A very listenable set of tracks. A drinking group with a singing problem is a great description!

  • Like them all!
    author: J9

Well done tunes in traditional style - had to laugh at some, but it is now in regular rotation on my music plaer!

  • Hilarious , sing along-able fun!!
    author: Renaissance Fairegoer

This CD is as much fun as the others. Invite the Boggards to your next beer party!

  • Like haveing them in your home
    author: Shawn

The work done here is great. Very catchy tunes. Loveable, and not too raunchy yet so sutible for most ages. Loved it as much as the others

  • A "must have" of the Poxy Boggards cd collection.
    author: Renaissance Fair Favorite

I would go on a lot more, yet time wise (something called "outside" beconds this fine afternoon) and typing space wise, I would have to keep it short. So, besides their other CD's this is one "must have" of the Poxy Boggards cd collection.
