A New Sin packs a sonic punch unlike any of the local cds I've heard. With an even blend of old and new the album has a Pantera meets Deftones flavor. In fact, A New Sin is so hard hitting that a number of times I found myself wondering, "These guys are from Austin, the home of Bob Schneider, Shawn Colvin, and Vallejo?" Not to belittle the work of these beloved local musicians, but we need more bands like Powderburn, bands that are ready, willing, and able to wake Austin up from it's meditation on what it believes to be the holy trinity of music: blues, country and pop rock."
