notes

The POSITANO BAND began life with the passion of six young musicians for a cultural phenomenon that has indelibly marked the birth and development of modern Italian popular music: the Neapolitan song. From these roots the music of the POSITANO BAND has grown and expanded into a vast repertory, ranging from old favorites like "ANEMA E CORE" to Pino Daniele's "JE SO' PAZZO". The show, lasting a full two hours, takes the audience on a musical journey full of surprises, aided by sophisticated arrangements with hints of jazz, bossa and tango, as well as folk and pop accents. The strength of the POSITANO BAND show lies in their rapport with the public. Whether it's a street party in the piazza, a theatre or crowded smoke filled bar, frontman and singer Mariano Soriente's unfailing Neapolitan charisma never fails to hold the audience in his thrall. At the end of 2006 they were invited to play by the Italian Culture Institute in Guatemala City, where they were greeted with a rapturous welcome. Based in Rome, the POSITANO BAND is available for touring anywhere in Italy and—why not?—throughout Europe and even farther afield. The latest news is that POSITANO BAND are finally releasing their first LP in June, a selection of nine classic songs plus two totally new ones recorded live at Rome's FORWARD STUDIOS and produced by FRANCO CRISTALDI. A Project by LEONARDI EDIZIONI and PEPSOUND.
