notes

Vicki is a folksinger and a songwriter based in Fort Collins, Colorado. If you like '60-style folk and folk-rock (like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor or John Prine) or contemporary folk, singer-songwriters (like Shawn Colvin, David Wilcox, or Dar Williams), you'll enjoy the warm voice and acoustic guitar of Vicki Pompea.

Having Vicki Pompea as a featured monthly performer was a wonderful addition to my coffee and ice cream shop here in Fort Collins. With her warm and welcoming style, and variety of music, she attracted a wide range of customers to stay and listen - and of course come back the next time she was on the schedule. She made everyone who listened feel they that they are part of her family for that evening...
- Jim Beikler, Owner - Mocha Bay Company, Fort Collins, CO

... thank you for your CD. I just listened to it. And girl, it is magical. It is wonderful. I got goosbumps listening to some of the songs on there... It's just so lovely. So I just wanted to thank you for sharing it me.
- Rosann Winn, Singer-songwriter

Vicki Pompea makes you feel right at home. Her easy style and gentle smile welcome you to her gig as though she were inviting you into her living room for a casual evening of singing by the fireplace. In a seemingly effortless fashion, she weaves a basket of delights for a variety of musical tastes, ranging from pure folk, to folk-rock, to country-rock. Her alto voice is somewhat reminiscent of Joan Baez, but with a softer and gentler delivery, and clear tones.
- Debbie Bidwell

Unique and interesting lyrics... You are truly a fresh and original lyric writer, Vicki.

  • "Real Woman" is the real folk music you've been looking for.
    author: 10fresh

this is terrific straight-ahead folk music for kickin back and having a cup of coffee. i dig it.

  • listen to it 'til you can sing along!
    author: Pam Jennings

These are the GOOOD songs that follow you with warm melodies and words throughout the day and make you happy to sing them under your breath. "Don't want to be THAT kind of old..." These are "happy to be in the skin that I'm in" kinds of songs. I was fortunate to see Vicki perform live and quickly bought 2 copies of her CD - one for me and one for my sister. Buy one, it will not disappoint.

  • A warm blanket and cup of tea . . . .
    author: Julie Yates

Vicki Pompea's CD creates feelings of comfort and warmth. The lyrics are beautiful and original. While all of Vicki's songs are wonderful, I particularly love Lightening and Thunder . . . it's best listened to while curled up with a favorite blanket and cup of tea.

Vicki's music speaks to my heart, my life, and my spirit. Every song I listened to I thought "That's my favorite." This CD will be Christmas gifts for my mother, my step-mothers, and my sisters!

  • Amazing!

The lyrics on Real Woman are AMAZING! They touch my heart. The music is wonderful! Vicki's voice is lyrical and the guiter that accompany is perfect! I've bought at least six copies of this CD to give to my best friends.

Vicki I just had to get your CD, Real Woman. My favorite is Aloha. You must love Hawaii as much as I do. My best wishes to you. Uncle Hubert

  • A haven of pleasurable listerning.,
    author: Betty Taylor

Easy, soothing music that nonetheless keeps the toe mentally tapping. Mood music for reflection, nostalgia, but never melancholy. Music that pulls you into it.

  • What commute?
    author: Amanda R.

There is only one thing in this world that could make me wish my commute to work was longer than it already is, and that's Vicki Pompea's Real Woman. By the time I get into the office after listening to it almost all the way through, I love me more, I love my girlfriend more, I love women in general more. Lyrically and musically, it's a bowl of chicken soup, a kiss on the cheek, a discussion with a friend over coffee and your favorite pair of jeans, all rolled into one. I like the album. I really really like it...and I'm from New Jersey, we don't like anything.

  • This CD is for all Real Women, their lovers, brothers...
    author: Melissa Shay

Vicki's title track says it all; this CD is for ALL Real Women as well as their husbands, lovers, brothers and sons! Strong and gentle at the same time, Vicki can make you smile with recognition, laugh, and cry, all while listening to the tracks of the same CD. Besides the title track, my current favorites are "That Kind of Old" and "Take a Breath". ("Looking Over the Tailgate" will convince you that Vicki was a dog in a previous incarnation!) Listen and breathe!

  • Honest , organic, and as 'real' as the woman herself!
    author: Dru Van Doren

This cd is like a collection of favorite poetry. Return to it again and again when you need a little lift, a good cry, or a reminder that being 'real' is what it's all about. As honest, organic and refreshing as the woman herself, this album will take you on a very gentle rollercoaster of emotion, and bring you safely back home, still smiling at amazing ride. So...when's the next cd coming out?
