Matt Pless is a singer/songwriter who has been a performer his whole life. Experience in various bands and musical endeavors eventually led him to a niche in the underground punk scene. He was the lead singer/songwriter for the high-energy punk band he formed at the onset of the millennium, opening for artists such as, Maroon 5, American HiFi, Allister, Fallout Boy, The Queers and many other national acts. He honed his craft touring and performing all over the country from small clubs to concert halls like the Hard Rock Café to major outdoor happenings such as the Vans Warped Tour. Along the way his Do-It-Yourself work ethic garnered a strong underground following.
Three full-length albums and one EP released with the band solidified Matt's reputation as a clever lyricist and energetic performer who could also craft a catchy melody and deliver it in an unforgettable way. But as band members drifted in and out, he was driven to take his music in a different creative direction.
On his newest release, a solo debut album "Requiems for Wishing Wells" Matt has crafted a musical journey with twelve inspired moments. It's a trip that lets us know that along the road of life not everything turns out exactly as planned and you must view the changes not as the death of dreams, but more as the continuation of goals. He captures life as he sees it, calls us to pause, take a look, and reflect on the scene he lays before us. His style delivers a distinctive sound that embraces all aspects of music and is blended by the influences of many musical genres.
Through his writing and arranging he can engage an audience with nothing more than guitar and voice or by adding more instruments he can envelop them in layers of musical sounds. A strong sense of the visual allows him to compliment his music with his original drawing compositions which are present throughout "Requiems for Wishing Wells". It's a total art show spectacle that stands Matt Pless apart from the large market of singer/songwriters today.

amazing and unique
author: lenaSince I got this cd I listen to it all the time! Every song is speacial and amazing in it's own way,the tunes are great and make wanna you sing along but it's the lyrics that really get you listening!!! I hope to see him live one day, until them I'm looking forward to the next album!

The CD is great. I had the chance to meet him while playing up in New York and I'm glad I did. He really puts passion into his music and he's not fake like a lot of assholes you meet today. Keep it up Matt. By the way, some of his newer stuff isn't on this record, he said they'll be on the next one. So I expect an awesome second album too. -jon

author: StinaSo, I'm pretty sure that the Dana below is my friend and that we have enjoyed the same Matt Pless experience. But, if not, nice to meet you other-Dana. Anyway, Matt is a true star. He performed a selection of these songs live (just him, guitar, and harmonica) and he was awesome. His lyrics are smart, funny, catchy, and memorable. The tunes are sing-alongable and you'll find yourself humming them at inopportune moments! Buy this CD, you'll be glad you did!

Featuring many types of music from rock (“Zero to the Third”) to heartfelt ballads (“Madeline”) to power ballads (“Cartwheel”), Matt is able to effortlessly flow from one style to the next. What makes Matt extraordinary is the ease at which he accomplishes this variety of styles. With lyrics that are incredibly well-written, this CD is guaranteed to stir emotions in the listener. Matt often uses metaphors and similes in his writing, and he is able to create imagery that expresses his thoughts and feelings while you might even find an identifiable thread in your own life experience. His words will make you think of something that you’d never thought of before or see a different side to situations and relationships. His “stories” and their unique melodies are guaranteed to have you singing along! While Matt is an outstanding lyricist, he is also an amazing artist and this CD provides a look at some of his creations. Every picture will make you wonder how anyone can have this kind of vision. Matt’s talent is unbelievable. Singer, songwriter, and artist, Matt plays guitar, drums, piano and harmonica. In one word, he is extraordinary. For one performer to be gifted in so many diverse areas is amazing. Matt’s incredible genius shines through on this CD, providing a very addicting experience for the listener. author: Ms. LamentThis CD was FANTASTICALLY hip-to-the-slickster. If you have a chance to pick it up definitely do so! My favorite would have to be track seven, What You Will...almost as good on CD as it was live. BUY THIS CD.
entertaining AND it makes you think
author: emma stanleyWith the talent matt has i expected the CD to be great, but when i first listened to it i was amazed. It was so much better than i thought it would be. The lyrics are unexpected and heartfelt. Not only that but his songs cover such a wide spread genre from his upbeat punk rock to the slower more touching ones that most any one who enjoys any kind of rock will love at least some of them. The lyrics are so well though out infact that for once they make sence and make you think and yet at the same time you can stil enjoy them. I recomend everyone go out and buy it wether you get online or at your local record and tape traders this is a must have CD. And remember ROCK ON!

author: Amanda DittusI've never heard anything this amazing. Even 3PO can't measure up. The whole CD is bloody amazing - every song something different, every song more amazing than the last. (Unless we're talking about track six, which is What You Will, then it is superior to all other songs.) Anyone with half a brain should buy this. Why? Because i'ts simply amazing.

author: LindseyI loved every song. It's not like a lot of cds today where all the sogns are about the same thing, it's a variety of topics where anyone can relate to atleast one of the songs. The acoustic gutair is also something you don't everyday. So if you're looking for something new to listen to, this would be the cd.

"What You Will" is quite possibly one the greatest songs ever written along with "Flip-Top Box" one of the best 3 Prong Outlet songs, though it works better on this album. If you love music at all, you will consider buying this, seriously.

Since I got it it hasn't left my car cd player and when I go home it goes straight into my cd player in my room. Each song is different so beautiful in its own way. I recommend this cd to anyone that has any musical taste. Absolutely amazing!!
