notes
what's up y'all this is alex mitchell, ex singer from circus of power. i was sitting in my room listening to the damned and watching the sun burn off the early morning fog when i decided to get off my ass and put out this c.d.it was either that or go outside and pick up the wolfshit from my frontyard and hell, i could do that tomorrow.i'd always wanted to play with charlie pickett, underground hillbilly/rock legend from florida,so i called him up after twenty years of no contact and said 'hey charlie, what the fuck,i'll be down there in six weeks and we'll record some music.the usual suspects all showed up that night and we plugged in.the vibe was there.
i needed more songs, so i wrote some with gary sunshine (ex circus) and headed for austin, texas.i found marc frappier (also ex-circus) at casino's bar and grill and we mapped out a plan.the plan was to get drunk and make some nasty, distorted rockin texas blues music. we were successful.
it's been twelve years since i released anything, the last being with circus of power.so i feel good to get this shit out,and am writing more songs.
"they train young men to drop fire on people but they won't allow them to write 'fuck' on the side of their airplanes. they say it's too obscene."-colonel kurtz, 'apocalypse now'.
i hope you dig my music- alex mitchell

Another Great CD from Alex
author: Keith "TAZ" BoeAnother Great CD from Alex This CD is one of the best I have heard in a long time. If you are a fan of C.O.P., Fat Nancy, or any other Alex Mitchell music this is a must have! Thank you Showbiz Al!!

Show Biz Al Grows Up and Blows Minds
author: daveI bought this expecting some excellent blues-based hard rock hard rock. What I got was some forward-looking, ass-kicking rock n' roll. This CD is amazing. Circus of Power, especially Vices, was the goods, but this is even better. The lyrics are intense, personal, and the stories are beautiful and heartbreaking. Alex is Ray Carver and Charles Bukowski with Muscle Shoals pipes. The tunes are hugely original, but stack up well with the best of Social D, the Replacements, and mid-period Stones. I can't recommend this album enough.
Alex Rules! Thank God (or the swamp devil) you're back!
author: Tom in So. California (Gary Sunshine State)This is better than a Beatles reunion! It sounds like Circus of Power to the 10th power after a quart of Jack D. This is what the fans have been waiting too many years to hear. Alex still reminds me of Jim Morrison and his lyrics reflect the genius and the madman that is within this tattooed rock'n roll monster. This is my pick for best CD of 2003 and trust me, I spent at least $1,500 this year alone on new music. Thank you Alex for the new music. Don't stop! Keep it coming. My name is Tom, I got Zowie on bass, Stay Free, Stay Clean, Stay Rightious, We Love You!!!!!!!!!
Alex is back! PLASTIC GATOR SOUNDS VERY LOUD!!!
author: Carlo MazzoliAlex is back! PLASTIC GATOR SOUNDS VERY LOUD!!! The CD is fantastic, it has given me enough to remember the CIRCUS OF POWER days. My favourite songs are "She's A Hot Rod", "Half A Dozen Roses", "Letters From The Inside" (a masterpiece...) and "Whore With A Heart". Great! Everyone must have this CD! Absolutely essential. "Al" is fantastic to listen ya again, you're true artist. P.S.: Thank to Bob (webmaster of circusofpower.net), he's a great man! And thank to cdbaby.com (good boys!) Be well, Carlo.
Raw Rock Return of Alex Mitchell
author: John EscobalesCircus of Power was a great band, and pretty popular. I don't know why they weren't bigger but it wasn't Alex MItchell's lack of talent or soul. This disc is loaded with what made that band great. If you liked Circus of Power you do yourself a grave disservice by not owning this disc. If you liked the Stones, The Doors, Skynyrd, just great rock music, you should check this disc out. The Real Deal. Welcome back Alex!
Alex is back baby! Explosive!
author: Aaron (True787@hotmail.com)They left us all "hangin" for so many years! Long years without any C.O.P material.... So many years that I was getting bitter! But now.... oh yes.... Alex has given me my fix! With a mix of groovy tunes (Vices style) and jammin' biker metal (C.O.P Debut), this album is EXCEEDS all previous material! Alex has reclaimed his place in our hearts! Thanks so much dude... you have no idea how much your music means to me. Long live Plastic Gator Machine! P.S- CD baby rules! Excellent service with a personal feel!
Best $10.00 I ever spent on something other than beer.
author: Bob The C.O.P. MadmanAlex Mitchell has always been an enigma to me.A rock n roll "Mad Max",the last of the cowboy frontmen. The voice of a Dean Martin with the charisma of a James Dean. This cd is a pleasent surprise to say the least.Everything from ass kickin' old school hard rock to classic country with a twist.Alex Mitchell has returned to the music scene with every ounce of credibility he left it with.Do yourself a favor and order this cd.
I love this cd
author: Steven MayThis is an awesome collection of some great music.Alex Mitchell's voice just gets better.SHE'S A HOT ROD is my favorite. This cd proves once again that Alex's talent for writing ass kickin rock & roll is there and always will be. STRANGERS IN THE MARKET is also one I dig.Great job guys! I hope we see a tour in the future.
I like it a lot.
author: Charlie PickettI like it a lot, but what the h---, I got to play on it. Seriously, Letters from the Inside is my favorite song of 2003 (and I DIDN'T get to play on Letters).
should be a cult classic
author: snake pliskena fun collection of music from your next door niehgbors, but they are a talented lot that makes you realize the premise of a campfire jam was no joke metal country boogie swamp even a number that sounds like the doors in the 80's if jim made out of his 20's good stuff
