notes

welcome... well, after knowing each other, or knowing of each other and wanting to play for a long time, we all got together in upstate NY for 4 days in May, 2007 to chill out and record what was in our hearts and minds. Straight away we realized that we had a special sorta different connection going on between us... and planetJABR was born.

planetJABR (pronounced Jab-er) is...

John Cabán - guitar, slide & atmosphere
Anthony Robustelli - keyboards, mouse & samples
Bill Foster - bass, percussion & lap steel
Ray Levier - drums & percussion

Collectively, the members have more than 60 years of experience as professional musicians and individually have played with renowned artists including Art Neville, Bo Diddley, Richard Bona, Alana Davis, KJ Denhert, John Cruz, Mike Stern, Wayne Krantz, Kenny Kirkland, Larry Coryell, Brian Jackson, Billy Cobham, Organic!, The Jungle Brothers and Michael Franti & Spearhead.

welcome to… is a collection of 11 songs that capture the live show experience of extended improvisation and rhythmic grooves while remaining fully cohesive, concise and enjoyable. With welcome to… planetJABR references numerous genres including drum & bass, funk, blues, psychedelic rock, dub and jazz mixed with inventive samples that take the listener on a musical journey through vintage sounds to tripped-out otherworldly atmospheric sonic dissonance. Enjoy...

I bought this because of a clip I heard on a tremolo pedal website and I am so glad I did - what a fun album! Ittakes you all over the place but my favorite stops have to be Snake Oil, Bayou, and Nordic. My oldest grandson, Bryan, absolutely loves The Frog. The album is HIGHLY recommended by both Bryan and me.
