A fury of sound, steez, and piracy- composed of musical genius, pulling life, love and inspiration from the sea, and the history of man's love for her.

notes

The Pirates Charles are a crew of crazed scallywags here to rock your very existence to the core. Armed with cutlasses dripping moonshine, epic tales of the sea and its many heroes and villains and, of course, the trusty Sarton Blades, they will pillage your mind and leave you bewildered and compelled to drop your entire existence and join us on our adventures and become a Pirate Charles as well.

The history of the Pirates Charles is a rich and adventurous tale. It all started fatefully at the cusp of the Year of Moreno, when Captain Diggity and The Red Pirate Cassidy began writing songs and entertaining the idea of forming a pirate band the likes of which the world has never seen. The songs came swiftly and without mercy, as did the addition of pirate twins Tor and Dylan Cronin (flute and mandolin, respectively). Now solid enough to begin playing shows, the crew worked tirelessly on their original shanties, war ballads and drinking songs, expanding their catalogue of material and bolstering the ranks along the way with the likes of bassist and blues pirate extraordinaire David Gale, the saucy and delightful Fiddlewench Teresa Ackle, and the thunderous percussive madman Harpoon Austin. Now with well over thirty original songs (and numerous old world shanties) and a live album under their belts, The Pirates Charles continue to enamor new fans anywhere they go, whether it be at their home venue, The Verity Room or on a packed Labor Day beach or ComicCon or local pirate festivals or performing with the magnificent Pirates For Hire. But parents be warned – The Pirates Charles aren’t quite your five-year-old’s PG-rated pirate band. In addition to the obvious plundering and sacking, The Pirates Charles have been known to use bawdy language (oh no!), rock like it’s both 1777 and 1977, and sing romantic ballads about their favorite prostitutes on Cat Island. So while they may not be appropriate for the kids, adults young and old alike may take delight in knowing that there’s a salty pirate rock band for them.

Must say I saw The Pirate Charles play last year at the Renaissance Faire, and they were bloody brilliant, saw them again this year--and with every show they grow better--and keep everything anew. Their stage performance is incredible and seems to have everyone 'arghing' like a pirate by the end! If you haven't seen them, I emplore you to buy the CD its at least the best you can do. If you have seen them, and have already bought a copy of the CD--BUY ANOTHER ONE!! I'm sure someone in the Jungles of New Guinea has not heard of them!!
