notes

Pirate Jenny emerged in Toronto in the year 2000 and spent a couple of years performing in numerous Toronto venues, from the Cameron House to Buddies in Bad Times, from Hugh's Room to Theatre Passe Muraille.

In 2002 the trio released cabaret blues, its debut CD, to a packed house at the Rivoli. In 2003, the band gave several performances in Vancouver, on Hornby Island, in Montreal and Quebec City. 2004 was a year of regular shows in Toronto and a shift of focus to more original music.

In May 2005 the trio released To the Moon, its second CD, to an over-capacity audience at Dancemakers Centre for Creation in the Distillery District. In 2006, the trio hosted the original Carnival of Fools, with several special guests including Toronto-based dance and performance artists.

Plans are in the making for a second Carnival of Fools, in collaboration with dancers Susie Burpee and Dan Wild.

Alexander Varty of the Georgia Straight had this to say of the band:

"Backed by Mackay's shimmering vibraphone and Parsons' pensive guitar, Moore has arrived at a vocal style that's both cool and keening, and that does full justice to the songs' complexities."

Pirate Jenny is Jennifer Moore, voice; Bill Parsons, guitars; Blair Mackay, drum set, vibraphone and percussion.
