The skilled use of classical and steel string guitar animates the memories of river life, the county fair, the night passage of a river boat, and the light of our spiritual journey. The strains of fluid melody fill our senses with the image of a secret place and time, now forgotten.
Dan has performed/recorded with Phil Keaggy (Grammy nominee and Dove award winner), Robin Kessenger (1985 National Flatpicking Champion), Nedra Talley Ross (Ronettes), Phil Madeira, Lance DeMers (Hannah's Prayer), John Fischer, Jenny Allinder, Ted Sandquist, and a number of others. Last year Dan was in Nashville to record new tracks for the re-issue of the Phil Keaggy Band's 1977 groundbreaking recording, "Emerging" (now called "Re-Emerging").
"Into The Flow" features Dan on classical and steel string guitars offering a number of musical impressions based on events and experiences. It incorporates the meditative beauty of classical music with other finger-style guitar to describe the beauty and spirituality of our existence. There's also a little fun, just like at any good back-porch jam session. Occasional cello, celtic harp, and other instruments enhance the ambiance.

Some Listening Pleasure

I have to admit that I'm a bit biased in my view since Dan is a good friend and allowed me to play on this CD. Despite that, this is some great music. From the humorous Tejas Tango to the beautiful Grateful Tears, Dan's guitar sings to the soul. I highly recommend this CD.

Well executed performance of acoustic/organic sounds

Here, he seamlessly weaves folk, classical, contemporary and meditative songs, ancored by his fluid acoustic guitar playing, and complimented by just the right amount of accompanying instruments. Dan's arrangements are clean and simple, never slick or over-produced, spicing this collection of songs with harp, cello, bass, percussion, humor, and the occasional use of voice. Highly recommended.

Flowing Instrumental !

Into the Flow is a thirteen track instrumental CD focusing on acoustic, classical and finger style guitar. The songs reflect a variety of moods and melodies that flow smoothly into one another. The tracks could be grouped by styles that include picking music, meditative, fun and classical interludes. Dan’s music is peaceful and relaxing. This collection is filled with diverse textures, rich sounds and spirituality. Many of his songs are guitar solos that have a complete sound where nothing is lacking. Other tracks are enhanced with additional instrumentation such as the cello, bass, keys and percussion. All his songs are beautifully crafted and well produced. Of particular note is ‘This is My Prayer’ a lovely piece that is crisp and clear and is complemented by the cello, keys and the harp. ‘Rectangular Sunlight/Carpet Fuzz’ is a showcase for Dan’s finger picking ability and has a light whimsical feel to it. ‘Same Old Grind’ is a spoofy tune complete with ‘pseudo jazz played at a wear
