notes
This children's compilation CD includes thirty songs by twenty-eight singer-songwriters from the U.S. and Canada.
With a fun and delightful mixture of musical styles (folk, bluegrass, country, rock-n-roll), as well as children's and adult's voices, the album includes over seventy minutes of family friendly entertainment.
Many of the songs were recorded and produced in Nashville, and in other studios around North America.
The tunes are easy to listen to and sing along with, and appeal to all ages.
The collection is great for teachers too.
"Kidtunes" represents the combined talents of many accomplished singer-songwriters and musicians.
Included are the platinum-selling songwriters Katherine Dines (for two songs on the Grammy-nominated "A Child's Gift of Lullabyes") and Bob King (for his song "Brother for Sale" recorded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson and "Sandwiches are Beautiful" recorded by various artists).
Joyce Seamone had a #1 song and gold record in Canada for her song "Testing 1-2-3," and Bob Blinn's song "I Still Can't Say Goodbye" was recorded by the late Chet Atkins.
Pete Seeger plays banjo and sings background vocals on Danny Einbender's contribution to "Kidtunes," "It Really Isn't Garbage." Well-known San Diego artist/producer Peter Sprague produced Track 29 on "Kidtunes," "We're All Peas in a Pod," a song on cultural diversity.
Several of the songwriters on "Kidtunes" have won Parent's Choice Awards, Dr.
Toy Awards, and/or Children's Music Web Awards.
Many have won awards or been finalists in major songwriting contests, including the Just Plain Folks Music Awards, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the USA Songwriting Contest, and many regional songwriting contests.
Many of the artists have released their own successful albums, and have had multiple cuts with various other artists.
The last song on the album, "It's All of Us Together," co-written by Austin's Tommy Byrd and Ande Rasmussen of the online community IFS, and sung by Nashville's Ronda Businda, is a soulful, thought-provoking song about those less fortunate, and our responsibility to the world community.
The compilation CD was produced by Elizabeth C. Axford, author of "Song Sheets to Software," and mastered by John Dawes, co-author with Tim Sweeney of "The Complete Guide to Internet Promotion for Musicians, Artists, and Songwriters." A portion of the proceeds from "Kidtunes" are donated to UNICEF.
