Ancient Shadows (the ghost and the fairy) is inspired by old fairy books and gothic literature: haunted houses, mourning willows, nymphs,vengeful fairies, ghosts fluttering like moths around the living... A world of spectral romance and intense melancholia. Also, her personal experience with sleep paralysis, night horrors and hypnagogia is a constant influence in her lyrics.

Often compared to Tori Amos. Kate Bush and Enya, Priscilla claims to be nourished by Tears for Fears (Orzábal lyrics), Cocteau Twins and most importantly her fascination for film scores and soundtracks. Still she truly carves out an original image for herself and is more than the sum total of her music influences creating an unique and personal soundscape that is difficult to put a finger on or describe.

    Priscilla Hernandez -- I was first introduced to her music via Mystic Age Internet Radio, and have the great pleasure of having her as a 'friend' on EnchantedFolk.com. I found her music to be not only ethereally enchanting, but always a superior performance as well. Of the many albums from various artists I possess, "Ancient Shadows" has become my all-time favourite, and I am constantly introducing others to her music. Well done, Priscilla -- this album gets a definite 5 stars from me, and more if it were possible!

    I first became aware of this artist on Mp3.com some years back when it was a boon for the indies. Then, as now, I felt this young lady was truly and remarkably gifted. The music and vocals manage to envelope you into a musical silky ethereal strand where you hope the recording never stops. Definately worth the purchase price if you are a fan of Ethereal or New Age music.

Priscilla Hernandez doesn't sound like any other artist in my opinion..she has a unique sound and style. I don't compare her to anyone, even though other people do. This album was very well done. Her vocals are sweet and lovely. Her artwork is very haughting and very beautiful. Priscilla is a woman with alot of talents bringing her beauty, joy and fantasy into the world.

    From beginning to end, Ancient Shadows is a beautiful adventure. Each song is a little treasure--Pris Hernandez is a superb melodist with a real poet's sense of how to structure a song. If you like artists like Enya or Medieval Baebes, this album is perfect for you!! A genuine spiritual love of nature is reflected in the delicate Willow's Lullaby and The Voice of the Night, but truly all themes are unified in this great album. Billed as "Gothic Ethereal", Ancient Shadows is by far the most impressive self-produced album by any indie artist to date. I highly recommend buying the actual CD: CD buyers get access to a special club and the CD itself features two booklets of faery drawings by Pris herself and many photos and lyrics. I review a lot of indie music and most albums have maybe one or two good songs on them: not so with Ancient Shadows. All of the songs have star quality and great melody/harmony. It's probably the best indie album ever made, the production is fantastic. Ancient Shadows is a very magical album.

    Everything about this album is perfect. Not just the voice, musicianship, songwriting, and production. The art on the package (and the website) is beautiful. Priscilla's lovely voice is nicely layered and moves over the melodies seemingly effortless. As you may have guessed from the title, there's a bit of the fantasy/ghosty/fairy realm here. It makes me want to sit on the floor of my old Victorian house, turn off all the lights, light candles, and wait for the ghosts to come.

    "Ancient Shadows" by Pricilla Hernandez How do you review a conceptual 19 song CD like "Ancient Shadows" knowing that no matter whatever thoughts and opinions you can share with future listeners of of this incredible work can never do it the justice it deserves? And just how do you describe a CD that reveals itself differently every time you hear it not to mention becoming more beautiful.. And add to this dilemma the fact that most of the great artists of out time are several albums into their careers before that create the album that will live forever such as "Sgt. Pepper", "Pet Sounds", "Tapestry" and "Tommy..", yet who among any of these artists would accomplish such feats on their first release??? "Ancient Shadows" takes you to the world we know in our dreams, a better place where the intangible beauty and fear one may experience in our hours of slumber are brought to life in vivid detail. From the silent visitor who sings to us in "I'm Right Here" to the calm and later the storm in "Nightmare", these memories soon forgotten after we wake are preserved forever in "Ancient Shadows". The lovely ballads such as "I Steal The Leaves" to "The Voice Of The Night" are just a fraction of what becomes "Ancient Shadows" because there is not a weak moment to be found on the entire CD. The beautiful harmonies that sound like a Choral Of Angels throughout the CD equals and surpasses anything done by The Beatles or Brian Wilson, and to think that such an incredible work of musical art was inspired and dedicated to a lovely creature named Kira.., what inspires most from this CD is not so much what has already been created but what more is to come. It's pointless to write anymore about "Ancient Shadows", this is a beauty in sound and emotion you must experience yourself. Often it is claimed that there are certain essential works of music everyone must have whether that is "Pet Sounds", "Sgt. Pepper" or Beethoven's 5th. Symphony and any other of the various classic works by the great artists over the years but in reality there is only one among these great works that is absolutely essential and that is "Ancient Shadows" by Pricilla Hernandez.

    This CD is so great :), it takes us into a Fantasyrealm, which makes me about great movies like LOTR, etc. Priscilla's unique voice and her artistic talent and her talent as musician makes it special for me.. This CD is worth the money and the effort Priscilla put into it. Some songs make me cry (in a good way) and others thrill me, I recommend this CD to every fan of Fantasy-Music.

    I want to conclude...I think that Priscilla has a melodic gift and arranging talent. Without comparing her to other people, she is developing at her pace... I do not compare to other people. Her voice has some quality. I really believe that priscilla is in a state of development and we will hear more nice melodies coming from her in the future.

    I really love Spain. I love diversity. I don't think that Tori, Kate and Enya are the best because that would be saying that only English speaking people are the best. Anyone who wants to be something they are not, namely English for the sake of money and fame is someone that I can't relate with. I don't think that everyone should reject their culture to adopt English culture because they think it is popular. Good production though
