Petunia has been swoonin,’ swingin,’ croonin’ and a bringin’ ‘em in to bars, churches, kitchens, street corners, folk festivals, subway stations…wherever the wind has taken him for the last 9 years. His not-so-secret fan club has been growing bigger and bigger each and every week.
His ‘…rousing organic sound’ is a blend of musical styles wandering freely from country to jazz to blues to French cabaret to Mexican folk to bluegrass. While he plays all sorts of ‘old standards’ consummately, repeat fans call out for his very special originals by name.
Labialized as ‘mesmerizing, stunnin, dazzling, heart-rending, heart-mending,life-giving,’ Petunia writes fabulous hit songs that send you on wacky roller coaster rides through yodeling serenades, wild electric love songs, haunted houses of blue and back again with a soft lullaby.
Petunia currently has 4 independently and personally released CDs out, which have garnered much Canada-wide attention, including airplay on the CBC in many parts of the country (also Bill Richardson’s Roundup, Dec. 2004), college radio exposure (#34 on the !Exclaim !Earshot Music Charts 2003 for his self-promoted, self-produced and self-paid-for album The Ugliest Bitterest Coldest Dreary Place I’ve Ever Seen). He has played over 400 shows in Canada and the U.S. over the last 5 years.
