THE PROMISE
Hi!
Thanks for checking out my little corner of CD Baby.
If you're like me, you're completely fatigued with all of the over-blown 3rd person hype that exists in the world of independent music nowadays (not to mention the major music industry players). You know the kind of propaganda I'm talking about,...flowery and poetic descriptions of "talent", and mind numbing cross-blending genre hybrids designed to pull you in. You won't find any of that crap here.
FIVE CORNERS, is my debut CD. I think it turned out pretty good. By that, I mostly mean in my heart of hearts, and based on my musical sensibilities, and reputation as a tough grader,...it doesn't suck. Some really fine moments were captured, and I think the songs hold up well. Check it out for yourself by clicking on the audio samples provided here, or better yet visit www.petevash.com to learn more about the songs and download a few mp3's for optimum audio quality.
THE MUSIC
I would most closely align myself with the musical traditions of Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, and Bruce Cockburn.
THE COMMITMENT
50 % of the profits from the sale of FIVE CORNERS will go to charity and non-profit organizations. Forever. No catches, no creative book-keeping, no kidding. Best of all, you can help decide where the money goes. Visit www.petevash.com for details.

"RIGHT - ON" MR. VASH!
author: Rebecca JohnsonI went surfin’ last night...plugged in Ani Difranco and Liberation just to see what would come up...that’s when I saw the CD BABY link for Five Corners and the song title "ON THE TOPIC OF ANI DIFRANCO, POST MODERNISM AND THE LIBERATION OF SINGULARITIES". I thought...hmm...I need to check this one out, so I bought the song on iTunes....Wow...This tune is spot-on! I can’t believe Vash put this song out in 2005...it’s more relevant than ever...it’s a serious rocker with attitude...Vash was sampling Bush more than a year before Neil Young was...so I took the plunge and got the CD...nice work....lots of great songs...sonically diverse...cool..."I Wish I Knew" has one of the most inventive transitions into a jazz fusion jam that I’ve ever heard..."Right - On" Mr. Vash!

VASH ROCKS!!!
author: Jennifer Taylor"I have to admit, I stumbled across FIVE CORNERS while I was searching amazon.com for Vash the Stampede collectables. When I saw this CD, I just couldn’t resist getting it. After all, with a name like Vash, I figure this guy just had to be cool...and boy was I right! VASH ROCKS!!! To top it all off, he’s hot...in a dangerous kind of way. After checking out his website, I decided to get my copy through CD Baby because I think it’s critically important to support the distributors of independent music. I totally dig this CD. Vash really does cover a lot of musical ground on this recording...infectious pop rock...intimate acoustic based singer/songwriter fare...gut wrenching blues...instrumental acid jazz...glorious folk rock...and "in your face" political commentary. My favorite track is "ON THE TOPIC OF ANI DIFRANCO, POST MODERNISM, AND THE LIBERATION OF SINGULARITIES". Vash takes aim at the Hypocrisy and Arrogance of Power, and delivers a passionate call to action for lovers of freedom around the world. Vash makes his case with a fascinating blend of sound loops, serious guitar crunch, and biting lyrical content. I highly recommend FIVE CORNERS"!! Peace and Love, Jennifer Taylor

Who is this Vash?, Does it really Matter?, This Guy Writes Great Songs!
author: Arpad PasztorWho is this VASH? Is V for Victory, or is V for Vendetta? Or perhaps, V is for Verecke Pass. Is Vash a fun loving Roots Rockin’ Folkster, or the metaphoric modern day incarnation of a real life Vash the Stampede, alternating between moments of genius as he takes aim at the conventions and “thought boxes” of contemporary post-modernism, and periods of sheer personal idiocy. Who cares? Does it really matter? This guy writes great songs! In his debut effort, Vash has put together a string of captivating tunes that flow smoothly from one to the other all while touching on a wide spectrum of subject matter and sonic presentations. This CD is well recorded, and is a most satisfying listen. From the Beatlely “Sweet Joleen”, to the whimsical debauchery of “Funky Bungalow”, through to the intimate folksy charms of “I Wish I Knew” and the explosively powerful clarion call for freedom lovers around the world in their confrontations with the “malefactors of great wealth” in “On the Topic of Ani Difranco, Post Modernism, and the Liberation of Singularities”, Vash does indeed deliver. Vash even throws in a scorching blues fusion guitar vehicle in the straight forward “On your Own”. Help this kid out. Help yourself out. Buy this CD. If your money is tight, consider giving the kid a buck or two by purchasing a few of his tunes through the usual and legitimate internet music retailers and providers. As for Vash, let’s hope he has begun work on his follow-up CD, the world could always use another articulate truth-teller. Arpad Pasztor, Independent Music Reviewer
Creative Modern Folk-Rock
author: Mark L'EcuyerThis is a very enjoyable record to listen to. Building on the works of early folk singers such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, and country-rock pioneers such as Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, Pete Vash has created a memorable debut.
This is fresh new music for a fresh new era,by a fresh new voice.
author: Tom Bingham, WCVF 88.9 FM, Fredonia,NY"Pete Vash's music can conjure up musical images of the best of the 1960's if you let it -- the first great flowering of singer-songwriters, the British Invasion, the early glory days of folk-rock and country-rock, the blues revival, a touch of psychedelia. But nostalgia this isn't. This is fresh, new music for a fresh new era, by a fresh, new voice. But the standout track is an eight-minute, multi-sectioned, techno- and hard-rock-inspired topical song (sampling Dubya himself) which lets you know that Pete Vash isn't afraid to take risks." Tom Bingham, WCVF 88.9FM, Fredonia, NY
