notes

real name, Pete Ho) is a fiercely independent m.c. who has been rocking all forms of hip hop expression since 1985. With his latest release, Radio Free Brooklyn, he delivers nineteen head nodders that unite pen, microphone and turntable in an hour long field trip to New York's livest borough. Celebrated for a lyrical complexity that is uncommon in mainstream hip hop, Pete takes on subjects that other m.c.s leave untouched while serving it all up over beats that make it hard for the listener to sit still. Combined with his five piece band and seasoned live performance skills, Pete Miser's mixture of turntablism and improvisational energy bring a ground breaking new meaning to "live hip hop." A native of Portland, Oregon, Pete fronted and managed the Northwest's most prominent hip hop band, 5 Fingers of Funk, touring the nation and performing with acts such as Maceo Parker, the Roots and Run DMC. It was during this time that Pete created Ho-Made Media, his one man independent record label that released both 5 Fingers of Funk releases and Pete's 1996 solo album, "What It Be..." for combined sales of over 20,000 units. After six years with 5 Fingers of Funk and the Northwest region on lock, Pete made a move to New York to immerse himself in hip hop culture in its birthplace. Upon relocating to the East Coast, Pete was recruited by Multi-platinum Arista recording artist, Dido as the dj in her seven-piece band. With Dido, Pete toured the United States, Europe, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. He has appeared on The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Top of The Pops and the European MTV Awards alongside such acts as Jay-Z, Sting and the Gorillaz. Pete continues to live in New York where he records and performs his music. Outside of the underground hip hop world, Pete's production and turntable work can be heard in releases by Dido, Faithless and the Cure.

  • This Might Be one of the best CD`s in my collection
    author: Dan Freewordz

This CD could very well be the best overall CD i own. Strong thoughtfull and creative lyrics. Songs that make you think... If you trully LISTEN to words and storys in music you`d be a idiot not to buy this CD.

  • Now this is Rap music
    author: Alan A. A.

Most of the time, rap music (by an independent artist, or a signed artist) will be like everything else that is out there. Pete Miser's brand of rap is truly original. Great flow, great lyrics, and Pete touches on all sorts of subjects. This is an album for anyone who wants to hear what rap music should be.

  • Didn't know Brooklyn fit into a jewel case.
    author: Margaretei

Great lyrics (and spiffy lyric book & cd design by Mr. Miser himself). Impressed and deeply touched by "Might Be" (written after September 11th) and loved "Radio Free Brooklyn", even though it gave spine tingles. Personal, political, and universal ("Central Park" was perfect . . . warms me up even on days with -28 wind chill). Keep it coming Pete.

  • Yikes. Run for your life, folks! NOW!
    author: Lemmy

Oh.My.Gosh! I popped this baby in my CD changer in August. It's still there. I am wearing it out. I'm gonna need a new copy soon and have my neck examined. Hey Earl! You gotta make me an appointment with a chiropractor. I can bop my head no more, man. It hurts, Earl! The rest of you should buy this album NOW. If you don't like it, check with a psychiatrist and consider not procreating.

  • cd very tight
    author: Chuk

Cd is very good, but of course not every track is as wickedly oversweet as Radio Free Brooklyn. Got that is also really good. Pete has a good voice for this and his tracks are really high quality. I bought this cd because track 2 is so sick.

  • Tight!

I'm feelin' the vibe son! Keep it comin'. Peace...one1
