notes
my 6th grade teacher in bellvue wa.,ms. sophie, gave me piano
lessons on her own time when i asked her her to teach me.she also taught me to sing properly.
after that i continued to practice on my own and when ever i met someone who knew how to play i would ask him or her to teach me how to play differant styles of music.i especially wanted to learn how to play the blues.for a while i lived next door to a guy that was a really good blues player and he taught me alot.
before i recorded the piano songs for this album i practiced just about everyday for 5 years straight.it was only after this intense period of practice and composition that i felt ready to record my piano music.the tape came out better than i expected.
so here it is,all 7 tracks that i recorded in one session
at the morrison center for the performing arts.
all the best,
pete holly

pete holly-14 track collection of home spun psychedelic recordings
author: earbuzz.compete holly has assembled a 14-track collection of home spun psychedelic recordings that chronicle differant stages of his musical life and development.he begins with his piano instrumental pieces and then moves into 4-track land with tunes that, although are recorded in less than perfect conditions, exibit songwriting talent and compositional understanding that is hooky and memorable.we hear influences that range from bob dylan, john cougar,to vocal tibre of alice cooper-especially in the track "did i ever tell you".we hear late 60's and early 70's pop sense in "don't go away" that could have easily been done by the likes of the everly brothers or similiar.drum machine and distorted vocals and guitar pepper the tune "google search".we did our own search on holly and found sites that announced a 3-time grammy nomineee and a music video that was entertaining and dreamy.the instrumental piano pieces on the cd are exercises in mood and melody.dark chords and dramatics fill up "china" while perpetual peanuts rhythms round out "jazz around".we look forward to more.-earbuzz.com
