notes

The long awaited third album in the the "Songs in the Key of ART" Trilogy is finally here! Fun, kid friendly music about artists and art. The brainchild of Elementary Art Teacher Greg Percy, Volume 3 continues where the first two albums left off. The first track "Bad Day in the Art Room" won an award in the MSG nationwide songwriting contest. Greg followed this year with another winner in the same contest. You learn about the American Gothic, Rousseau and Georgia O'keeffe. You can take a trip to Tahiti with Paul Gauguin. Laugh along with one of the the most mispronounced artists in "Mr. Klee" (pronounced KLAY).You'll see the world through Jackson "Pollocks Eyes". Don't know a Hydria from an Amphora?..."The Vase Store Song" will clear things up. Find out why MC Escher is a "Big Sensation". All of the music is fun, catchy and memorable. Greg uses these songs as a supplement to his art curriculum at school His K-5 art classes love them...so will you!

-For the second year in a row, Greg's music was a winner in the MSG nationwide songwriting contest

-ARTNEWS magazine editor Carly Berwick recently ran a story about Greg's music and explained it was a "veritable goldmine"....

-SCHOLASTIC INSTRUCTOR (Jan 2005) ran an article about Greg using music in his classroom to enhance his art curriculum.

-DJ Uncle Chris of WTUL-FM New Orleans has featured Greg's music in regular rotation.

-Host Pete Fornatale of WFUV's "Mixed Bag" radio show said "You should check it out for yourself....especially if you're involved in teaching art..."

Just when I thought it was time to scrap some of my older lessons, Volume 3 came along. It's the "missing link" that ties them together.

Worth the buy just for Bad Day in the Artroom. I like that this CD covers some artists we study

  • Amazing way to incorporate learning of art into the classroom!
    author: Ann Brown

We incorporated 2 songs, Bad Day in the Art Room and Georgia, into our first grade play. The songs are fun and "catchy". After spending several weeks in rehearsal, I frequently find myself driving along, humming the tune to Bad Day in the Art Room. I shared this CD (and other Greg Percy volumes) with our art teacher, and she wants to purchase them for use in her classroom. They are great!

  • Just what every Elementary Art Room needs! Amazing find!
