notes

Never one to mince words, singer/songwriter Elisa Peimer has cultivated a rare talent of weaving interpretations of personal experience with alluring pop melodies. With a voice that moves effortlessly between a shout and a whisper, Elisa expresses a surprising tone of idealism, self-discovery and empowerment in songs that are a celebration of the universal human experience.

Her additive songs have been called "impressive" by CMJ, and "passionate and powerful" by independent tipsheet, Get Fancy. Elisa and her band have just release their first full-length album, "Shed This Skin", as a follow-up to their critically received, "EP." They have opened for KC and the Sunshine Band, and their moving, intimate performances have earned them a steady local following at New York City clubs including Mercury Lounge, Fez, Arlene Grocery, and CB's Gallery, as well as the 1998 Intel Music Festival. With each performance, she gains new fans while continuing to enchant her loyal audience.

Elisa's music is also featured on several popular online music sites, including mp3.com, Riffage.com, and Soundclick.com. Two cuts off the album, "Leaving Here Tomorrow" and "Lullaby," have been chosen to be aired on national soap operas As The World Turns, Another World and Guiding Light. In addition, "Leaving Here Tomorrow" is also heard in the trailer for MTV's Beavis & Butt-head Home Video line, featured on the MTV's Beavis & Butt-head: Buttoween DVD. Elisa was a recipient for the past two years of an ASCAP Popular Award and is an approved member of the national independent women's music collective, Indiegrrl. She also has licensing deals with Columbia Tri-Star Television, the Oxygen Network, and Muzak.

WPLJ, New York City's popular top 40 radio station, featured Elisa's EP on the air during the Scott & Todd Show. While played on the morning program, host Scott Shannon highly praised the album to his listeners between tracks siting the album was a "good job" that contained "good words." Station listeners phoned in during the CD's showcase inquiring where they could find "EP"; Borders Park Avenue sold out their inventory that day. In addition to WPLJ, several radio stations across the country have also featured cuts from the album.

"Beyond the difficulties we face in life," says Elisa, "there's an undercurrent of joy that, to me, is best expressed through music."

Judging from the buzz that is growing around this new artist, that philosophy has obviously touched a nerve.

Elisa Peimer is one artist on her way to becoming a household name.

  • Tasty EP

Read the full review at www.indiemonkey.com... The E.P consists of two pure ballads, and two jangly guitar pop ballads. All four songs have "background music for dramatic/emotional scene" stamped all over them. This is both a good and bad thing, certainly Elisa is a success waiting to happen, and I would be shocked at anything else befalling her. Against that is the problem of being trapped as a saccharine sweet member of the Lilith Fair crowd. If the tracks here are a sampler of her songwriting talented, that is superb, if instead this is her entire range then it might begin to get a little bland. Then again I have never had a sweet tooth...
