notes

The P.A.V.E. was a name long in place before the present group was formed. It originated in a classroom discussion between Kevin Bradford and some Algebra students about a name for a cool praise band. Several years later, Mark McAlister was asked to put together a worship band for an event at Six Flags Magic Mountain 2005. The group was formed and they sang several tunes McAlister had written. Bradford was so enamored with experience that he suggested recording a project in a local garage studio.

Needless to say, this was big yet very naïve thinking. Two songs were recorded in six months (yeah, a rather long time) and the results were taken to Brundle Fly studios in L.A. for evaluation. The goal was to record the songs in the garage studio, Mellow Deez, for a low budget, entry level project, and have Brundle Fly master the completed tracks. The two tracks were deemed decent given the resources and experience, but they contained a number of technical inconsistencies. Undaunted, the group went back to the drawing board. Given the time it was taking to record, and the engineer of Mellow Deez studio moving out of town, PAVE decided to go to the next level, although their goal was still the same: provide an energetic sound tastefully done, expose McAlister’s creative, original material, and complete Kevin Bradford’s enamored desire to record a project.

So, PAVE teamed up with producers Terry Stewart and Eric Scott Williams of Simon Productions and Brundle Fly Studios and recorded a uniquely apostolic amalgam of driving B3 organ and tight guitar tones, filled with jazz and bluesy asides atop an uncompromising lyrical bedrock. The album is not afraid to import dramatic, arena-rock digressions while maintaining all control of the musical borders. A Praise and Worship project with something for everyone, that can be summarized as a fusion of modern and retro musical styles = MODTRO...
