Acoutic Guitar Played in an innovative rock/blues country style

notes

The music on this CD has come about after probably the busiest period of my career in terms of live gigs with my band. As a result I've needed something of a change.

Inspiration for the electric guitar can be hard to find away from the stage, with the nerves and adrenalin an audience can bring. So, here is an album of music composed almost entirely for acoustic guitar. I've found this change of pace extremely refreshing and it has enhanced my love of the instrument even more, hence the reason behind the albums title.

During the recording and mixing process, very little has been added in the way of effects or eq, relying more on the quality of instrument and mic positioning etc. Other than reverb and compression, I've tried to maintain as true a representation of the guitars natural tone as possible.

all guitar solos were either first or second takes.

Very special thanks go to Avalon Guitars for there superb instruments and Thomas McLaughlin at Soundslive in Newcastle, for techcical advice and support.

  • The Learning Curve - Inspirational, great CD

I ‘happened’ on the CD The Learning Curve by accident whilst looking at beautiful guitars. From the guitar site I was taken to an ‘artists’ site and found TLC (very appropriate I thought and so I bought it!) I love acoustic guitar music and found the track Autumn Leaves to be particularly haunting. I also like Easy Blues and Same Old Reality. Actually I like the whole CD! I play the CD while I write and the mixture of tracks hits the right notes, soothing tracks and inspirational tracks. June, London, UK

I have been a music collector for more than 30 years. This cd is one of my favorites. For Acoustic guitar this is a very fine cd. Mostly Instrumental with a couple songs with vocals.Probably my most favorite song on this cd is track 10, Same Old Reality.Great vocals and awesome guitar. If you love guitar based music you definitely can't go wrong with this cd. I also use this cd to show off my audio system. Excellent sound quality throughout the cd. Get comfortable and turn off all the lights.Paul Rose The Learning Curve deserves a listen. Michael Alabama, USA

This CD will calm your nerves after a hard day. Paul Rose is excellent and has some great jazz licks. I especially like the title song, but the rest are just as good. If you like smooth jazz guitar, this one is for you!
