notes
Native Vermonter Patti Casey has established herself as a national figure on the new folk/pop and bluegrass scene. With several impressive contest wins (A Prairie Home Companion's 2001 Talent From Towns Under Two Thousand, Kerrville Folk Festival's 2000 New Folk Songwriting Contest, 1995 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest winner and 1997 alternate, 2004 South Florida Folk Festival Songwriting Contest Finalist), a solid performance history starting in the early 1990s, and a voice that is "one in a million" (Vermont Public Radio) and "evocative" (the Boston Herald), Casey delivers sweet, soulful, and passionate gems crafted with keen observance. Casey's warmest, most engaging collection to date, "The Edge of Grace" offers listeners 13 original songs spanning such diverse genres as southern White gospel, Celtic, folk-pop, bluegrass, and swing, and features guest musicians Pat Donohue and Gary Raynor (Guys' All-Star Shoe Band) and Moondi Klein (Seldom Scene and Chesapeake). Known widely for her performances and compositions with the New England-based Bluegrass Gospel Project, Casey here steps out once again on her own, drawing together an impressive collection of bandmates and displaying an ever-maturing writing sensibility. Her voice is, as always, riveting and incomparable.

Some days, you just get lucky.
author: Darin VolpeIn February of '08, I ran into a woman on a train heading from California to Denver who said she was a musician. She sure wasn't kidding! It's cliche, but there isn't a bad song on the whole album. I just ordered my fourth (yes, FOURTH) copy of this CD - all the others have been lent out and not returned.
In a world seemingly short on grace, this CD is just what I needed!
author: JaneenThe strength of this artist's soul comes through so clearly in her voice and her lyrics. I can't wait for her next CD!
