Album Notes

Patrice Haan has an ear for melody, a heart for feelings and a gift for lyrics, all of which are nicely combined in this debut solo album. Singing (and playing celtic harp) on a selection of her orginal tunes and songs, she evokes a feeling of stillness while being moving. Accompanied by guitar, dobro, viola and other voices on various songs, the CD remains an expression of her voice, and a lovely voice it is.

REVIEWS

a quiet but glistening Gem.
author: Sara Lanier Spottiswoode
I received my precious copy a few hours ago. I love the title and the cover photographs look like heaven. Dawn Song was, for me, the most accurate reflection of your unique qualities as a complex intellectual with a passionate heart. Such a marvellous set of contradictions being held in balance by your self disciplined commitment to communicating them to others through your music. Nick’s Tune: Irish-Scots Scots-Irish Albionesque or just what is called in Bunting, Very Ancient. Your touch on piano and harp remains, as ever, quite beautiful. . All in all - a quiet but glistening Gem.

Enjoyable as a listener and inspiring as a songwriter.
author: Victor Johnson
I've had a chance to digest some of your new disc. I'm diggin' on it; it's really great. My favorite is by far the Grasshopper Hymn. Nice job. I've already written (not completed) two songs inspired by your record. I don't think that has ever happened. Especially in such a short time of hearing something. Enjoyable as a listener and inspiring as a songwriter. That's a nice combo. Thanks.

a real spellweaver..and worth a second/third/fourth listen
author: Paula Lalish
We had the CD on last night and it was a real spellweaver. Certainly it touched my already-deranged senses in the area of bittersweet, naked yearning for I knew not exactly what. You write friggin' BEEYOOTYFUL songs. And in an impressive array of styles, to boot! I love Orville's additions, and the ladies' harmonies, and just... find so much to admire. I guess I just gotta say go girl, go, because it IS beautiful and haunting and interestingly complex and worth a second/third/fourth listen. It's art, baby! Get used to it.

There are so many exquisite moments here-I'm inspired!
author: Cyd Smith
Many thousand thanks, girlfriend. There are so many exquisite moments here--the mysterious and tender union of your harp and Orville's dobro on The Western Isles is a sound I can't get enough of. I'm replaying it now. It's as liquid as a spring rainstorm. Catching Your Breath I also love--such a gorgeous tune. I'm so impressed by the sound of your voice--it's such a treat to hear you playing with the fullness of your range, all the nuances of your rich tone. Thanks so much for this lovely gift Patrice. I'm inspired!
