Reggae Dubrock from the south, straight out of Savannah, GA. Passafire mixes up many different genre's effortlessly, while concentrating on reggae, they even manage to slip a little bluegrass.

notes

Four years and multiple tours since their inception in the spring of 2003, the Savannah GA based reggae-rock outfit Passafire has enjoyed growing national recognition. Their 2006 self-titled release and energetic live performances have created a noteworthy buzz on the east coast. “We are all proud of the level we have reached in this short amount of time,” says drummer Nick Kubley. They attribute their success to a truly independent business model. Management, booking, recording, even promotion and publicity are all handled in-house and under their LLC. “None of us just play our instruments. We all have several jobs within the organization” says Ted Bowne, lead singer and guitarist. Combining roots reggae, progressive rock and experimental dub, Passafire has created an accessible sound all their own. Nick Kubley’s tight and versatile drumming paired with his brother Will’s innovative, effects heavy bass work creates a textured rhythmic backdrop. Ted Bowne’s soulful dubbed out vocals and solid guitar licks mesh seamlessly with Adam Willis’s vintage keys and colorful synths. All together, the members of Passafire create a full, well-structured sound with memorable melodies, hard-hitting breakdowns and thoughtful lyricism. Their vocal harmonies are as precise as every other aspect of this bands sound. The near future looks bright for Passafire. They have earned the attention of heavyweights within the genre, and are slated to tour nationally this fall to promote their upcoming sophomore release. “This is a really exciting time for us” says Adam. “We can’t wait to get on the road and make some new fans.” That being said, stay tuned as Passafire will be coming soon to a city near you

I do not have this cd yet but it is has been playing on my computer since 3-22-08. Thank you for putting it on the site - I saw you in concert with 311 - frickin amazing!! I am an instant fan! You guys got it. I hope you tour more on your own close to Indiana- I have three little boys (four counting me) so it is hard to get out to concerts - but I would and will come to see you. Your'e really fun on stage - you can't fake that! My three boys are happy to listen to something new instead of 311 all of the time. It is cool when a 8,7 and a 6 year old jam out together around the computer cuz that's are only feed for now. Thank you! Chad Mollema

It's not often that you come across such an interesting blend of genres as the critical mass of reggae, rock, pop and even mountain music found in this remarkable album. This is one of those CD's that you play over and over, discovering new nuances with each listening. Let's hope these four can hold it together through the rigors of touring and will someday soon head back into the studio to apply the lessons of the road to create a new body of work that is again remarkable.
