notes

Buffalo born singer, (audio mixer at CBS and songwriter) David Pascucci ("scooch pascooch") primarily considered a singer who puts his own heart and soul into mostly obscure or lost and forgotten songs is pleased to announce the release of his new album "Inside André Previn". An eclectic collection of mostly obscure songs written by legendary composer/conductor André Previn and former wife Dory Langdon Previn from the classic films "Inside Daisy Clover" and "Valley of the Dolls", plus various film and 'pop' songs from the collaborating team. 10 of the songs were recorded at the historic Capitol Recording Studios in Hollywood backed by a 20 piece orchestra, and 8 songs he is accompanied by a trio recorded at Entourage Studios in Burbank, CA. The orchestra and trio were mixed by Mark Keefner, with the vocals being recorded and mixed by "scooch" himself. The album was mastered by the legendary Bernie Grundman.

David's next CD will comprise of several of his own original songs, plus selections by Charles Aznavour, Neil Sedaka and local songwriters.

  • Come Inside!
    author: M. Block

Andre and Dory Previn each became famous (he as a conductor and she as a singer-songwriter) after their partnership ended, and their brilliant body of work together has rarely if ever received the attention it deserves. Until now. Whatever possessed David Pascucci to devote a whole album to the Previn-Previn catalogue, he’s done a wonderful job in digging up these songs and presenting them in the best possible light. Except for the “Valley of the Dolls” songs I was unfamiliar with most of them, and each was a delight. Maybe it was a toss of the coin to call the CD “Inside Andre Previn.” “Inside Dory Previn” would have been just as appropriate - these songs reveal Dory as a probing lyricist who was unafraid, years before she became a ‘confessional’ solo artist, to tackle themes of vulnerability and desperation. And David Pascucci handles these songs, as well as the happy and romantic ones, with sensitivity and enthusiasm. He’s a fine interpreter and the backup musicians are superb. I’ve been playing this CD on ‘shuffle mode’ for weeks, and it still sounds fresh.
