notes
Drawing from a wealth of material originally written in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this debut from Parlormuse manages to fuse the old with the new in a way that is sure to surprise and delight. Bringing a folk rock sound and sensibility to the traditional charm and nostalgia of a bygone era, the result is a dynamic mix that ranges from bittersweet to infectiously energetic. Lush multi-part vocal harmonies are featured, as well as both acoustic and electric instrumentation.
Calling upon a diversity of musical influences and a background that includes formal conservatory training, multi-instrumentalist Gavin Goszka (also of Midnight Syndicate) handles all performance duties on this unique and memorable solo outing. Fans of classic folk rock bands like Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention will surely find much to like here, as will anyone fascinated by Victorian lore and culture.
