  • Smart and unique - very much worth your time!

I first heard Park Evans Quartet on the local jazz station without knowing who it was. I kept thinking that it was probably John McLaughlin! This is a highly enjoyable set of compositions with a unique melodic sound. Well worth the investment.

  • Great production and good songwriting make this a win-win!

Not only are the songs well-crafted and thoughtful, they're also captured with surprising clarity and sonic brilliance. PEQ presents a collection of material that is at once crafty and cunning, accessible and enjoyable. Good songs, great groove, and great production make for a stellar listening experience!

This CD is smooth, yet funky. Very easy to listen to, the sax is top notch. These guys are amazing live as well.

  • one of the best jazz albums we have heard
    author: G. Marie Johnson

The intellectual depth, emotional versatility and stylistic novelty of this recording make it one of the best jazz albums we have heard... maybe ever. Apart from excellent musicianship, it is the creative compositional niche in which this recording fits that subtly surprised us... and grew on us quickly. We never hear anything like this on public jazz radio down here in Phoenix. The genre Park is playing with is a unique fusion of moods that seems to accompany and ignite all the daily activities of my life - I kick back in the afternoon sun while gardening or light some candles while cooking dinner. It is childlike and fresh, while simultaneously reminiscent of sophisticated retro lounge grooves. There are wafts of the familiar, but it is not imitative and every time I listen I hear something new... and THINK something new. The tracks are all equally strong and they weave a texture that is never tiresome. They blend seamlessly and speak to the listener, whether one analyzes melody, rhythm and form or merely floats on ambient sound. This CD will set a great vibe for your next cocktail party, moreover, it might just elicit your most innovative ideas.
