A haunting blend of hard rock, electronic and pop music,

notes

Pamela Moore steps back into the limelight as a solo artist with Stories From A Blue Room. The distinctive 11-track album brings the singer full-circle, resurrecting a solo career that began in the early 1980s.

The sultry vocalist’s first two albums, Take a Look (1981) and You Won’t Find Me There (1982), were well-received, but label problems ultimately derailed a promising start. Not content to give up, Pamela continued to follow her passion, making guest appearances on various albums during the next decade, most notably as the voice of “Sister Mary” on Queensrÿche’s heralded concept album, Operation: Mindcrime. She eventually started touring again with Queensrÿche in 2004 as a featured vocalist and stage actress which ultimately generated the invitation to reclaim her role as "Sister Mary" on the newly released sequel: Operation: Mindcrime 2.

The tour revived Moore’s desire to record her own album, and she began writing songs with former Rorschach Test guitarist Benjamin Anderson. The duo found instant chemistry, as Anderson’s musical ideas brought Pamela’s lyrics and melodies to life. Stories From A Blue Room is the dynamic result of that collaboration.

A haunting blend of hard rock, electronic, and pop music, the combination of different sounds on the album is made whole by Pamela Moore’s edgy, yet soulful voice. Cuts such as “Dive into Me” and “Satisfied?” (duet featuring Terri Nunn - Berlin) are two darker rock tracks on the album, while a ballad such as “Forever in My Dreams” would bring a tear to the eye of the most hardened soul.

Fittingly, it’s a diverse pallet of songs and while most songwriters cite “life experiences” as the influence behind their songs, for Pamela Moore, it’s an honest answer, not a public relations line. Her lyrics on Stories From A Blue Room are derived from a life spent in and out of the music business and provide a unique landscape of emotions.

“The album is an open window to things I’ve questioned in my life and dealt with over the years,” Pamela explains. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to express myself once again.”

Pamela proves she's much more than "Sister Mary" from the Queensryche Mindcrime cd's 1&2, And she's not just another pretty face! Pam is also an artist who cares about her fans I'd give this cd 10 stars if I could it's worth every penny and then some great songs great voice great person! P.S. thanks for the kind words of encouragement and getting back and performing in the crazy world we call the music business.

  • Soulfully Amazing
    author: Anthony

To sit and listen to a cd and say " It's ok" would be a total understatement for Stories From A Blue Room. The soulful sound of Pamela, mixed with the hard rock edge of the music makes you feel the life she has lead in this crazy world of what we call music today. Her life experiences in Stories From A Blue Room, can be felt in some way by anyone and everyone who listens to her music. Forever In My Dreams, and Cross My Heart are true examples of emotions that everyone, one time or another have felt in their life. This CD is a must have, you will not be disappointed," CROSS MY HEART ".

  • Great experience
    author: Nicholas Jones

This album caught my ear before a Queensryche concert a year ago. With experimental, and progressive, haunting melodies, this album strikes right at the soul. Upon first listening to it, the CD was exactly what my ears and my soul needed. After a few more listens, I must admit that a bit of the album's glitz wore off. Some of the lyrics come off as cheesy, especially the more you listen to them. However, this album is daring, sensual and, above and beyond anything else, HONEST! Although constant rotation may bring about a sense of boredom, this is definitely an album that needs top be heard at least once a month.

  • kick ass
    author: Cletus

What more is there to say? Pamela Kicks ass. There is no slowing down for her in her music.

  • Album Of The Year !!!
    author: Elliot

Loved her voice ever since hearing her on Queensryches' Operation;Mindcrime way back in 1988. This CD just oozes class & style and has atmosphere in spades. There isn't a bad track on the entire CD. The musicianship is excellent and the production is spot on but Pamelas' vocals are the highlight. I can't recommend this CD highly enough.

  • OH my GOD she rocks

From the title track "get off" this cd pulls you in. Pamela has an incredibly range, both vocally and lyrically. Sultry vocals, fantastic accompaniment, and lyrics with a hint of teasing and temptation. I would greatly recommend this cd to anyone.

    author: Marcus Coull from Australia

Absoulutely AWSOME.Saw Pamela when she came Down Under with Queensryche in July of 2006.There is a hint of the Q/R in some of the songs at the start, but for the most part you can see Pemela SHINE through with a power and passion that is all Pamela. This is a must for anyone that loves a powerhouse female singer, and I hope that this is the start of a long solo career. Go Pamela..........

  • Great Buy
    author: Chuck

I enjoyed Pamela's CD and look forward to purchasing this CD. I learned about her through OM.

  • A dream I once had
    author: Jason

I was first introduced to Pamela in '88 when she gave the world her haunting performance on OM, but was then essentially lost to the mainstream world of Rock after the Empire tour. Pamela is a true talent and beauty that should have been promoted and supported after the Empire tour. Now, she is finally getting the support and chance to bring her talent and beauty to the airwaves and center stage where it belongs. The songs are a journey into Pam's soul and I am thrilled that I was invited. Great vocals, composition and guitar work. Love ya, Pam. Your time to shine is now!

  • From Sister Mary to Solo Sultry Songstress
author: 59 yr. old Rockin Mom & Grama

Anyone who performed with Queensryche is awesome anyway. But Pamela went beyond that with her sultry solo albums. I ordered this for my 40 year old daughter who loves the same music I do & that she grew up with. This has been passed onto her 20 year old son also. So, we're a family that knows good music!

Stories From A Blue Room is a CD that enraptures the soul and takes it on a journey. Pamela's sultry and sometimes haunting vocals accompanied with driving guitars and precision percussion on songs like Ordinary Day and Dive Into Me set you right back into your chair. This CD is a 10 but they only allow 5 stars!

Stories from a Blue Room took me on a very emotional and haunting journey. Pamela's vocals are flawless and strong yet touch your heart in the lightest of ways to pull on an emotional string or connection or to each track on this fantastic album. My stand out favs are Cross My Heart and Satisfied, but hard to really choose because each track has its own special qualitys that make this album a MUST HAVE in any real music lovers CD Collection! It's an added bonus to me in Australia to hear her music climbing our charts off this album! Right down to the stunning artwork and CD sleeve it is a total class act! I have seen Pamela live with Queensryche and her voice is soulful but rocks. You feel the music glad to see her doing her music. Keep it up Pamela.

  • Thumbs up
    author: Peter

Nothing what I expected. I am a huge Queensryche fan. Glad to see she has her own identity and is not living off their name. This is a great CD. Great music, great lyrics. She has a great voice. If you have a chance to see her on tour with Queensryche, don't miss it. This CD is impressive. Her live performance with QR is even more impressive.

  • Awesome CD, Pamela rocks!!!
    author: Patrick

This is a great cd. I love every song. Pamela sounds amazing and the music is killer.

  • Want to fall in love the easy way, Dive in to it!
    author: Ken Lawrence

this writer never knew who the voice of Sister Mary on the Queensryche CD was till Friday night on new york's WAXQ on Eddie trunk's cyndicate show. she mention the album on her appearance with queen'sryche. While her web site isn't accessible to a blind user on a screen reader, her music sure is so all I can say is like the title of this post says, want to fall in love the easy way, dive in to it. Highlights are for ever in My dream and dive in to me.

  • Soulful Rock From a Bonafide Vocal Powerhouse
    author: Darric

I learned of this CD from talking with fans of another rock act. I sampled the CD online and was impressed both with the wide range of musical styles and the sheer presence of Ms. Moore's voice. I am glad that I found it. The moods and feelings that the music evokes are amazing. She is a true talent. I highly recommend this CD as a new-found Pamela Moore fan.

Melody and finesse fell in love with modern orchestration and killer-guitar. Heavenly inner vocals introduce us to a blue dimension, whilst spectacular choruses lead through the room. As for the stories... well, that’s for you to find out...

  • Two thumbs up
    author: Peter

I have always loved Pamela's vocals. Ever since the days of Sister Mary on OM-1!!!! But she truly has outdone herself here!!!! Not quite the soaring vocals of OM, But her talent definitely shines through on Songs like Cross my heart, and Lean into me!!! When will we see more, of Moore???? Possibly a solo tour... I'm there if she comes to Denver!!!!!

  • all i could have asked for, simply stunning!
    author: Jason Mannello (Rychiar)

I first heard Pamela's breathtaking vocals when my dad picked up Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime when I was 10 years old and I've been smitten ever since. For years i wanted to hear more music from her and was pleasantly surprised to find out about Radar when i first got the internet. Between her brilliant role as sister mary, the few trackss i heard of Radar and the EP compilation sold on the Art of Live tour its all just been teases though up until now when we finally have the culmination of all that work. A complete album, and what an album it is. An album that perfectly combines modern sound, ambience, crushing metal guitars and solos, and pop sensibilities all in one. It has much of the dark sensuality i love so much in this type of music. It's wonderful to hear Mr Loomis from Nevermore as his guitar work is top notch and fits in perfectly. It's all capped off by Neil Kernons flawless fluid production. Tracks such as "Dive Into Me" and "Satisfied" are sure to be stuck in your head for weeks upon hearing them. Like the side projects of many QR members and contributors its sad to see this not get a true record deal and mass distribution as it certainly wipes the floors with many mainstream radio acts these days while still having the ability for such broad appeal if properly exposed. I urge anyone who stumbles across this review to do yourself a favor and pick up this wonderful album as well as spread word to anyone that appreciates quality engaging music. Keep it going Pamela and see you on tour this summer!

  • Well Done!!! Great Album!
    author: Mike Leslie

My intro to Pamela was her guesting as Sister Mary on Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime. Loved her voice then and this album does not disappoint. I have also been a Nevermore fan for years and this album has some sweet guitar work by Jeff Loomis, my kudos to him and double to Pamela for the passionate delivery on this album. Forever in My dreams (my favorite vocal) and Dive into me (my favorite guitar solo) are my current favorites from this disc.

  • A solid rock album by a great female singer
    author: Glenn Robertson (from Scotland)

Pamela Moore's album "Stories from the Blue Room" is well worth the listen and includes some really good rock moments. Not only does Pamela look great she can sing great as well. Although I must confess I am new to hearing Pamela's music I was pleasantly surprised by the album and have found myself singing some of the catchy chorus-lines to the songs. My personal favourite track from the album is "Ordinary Day" but also other tracks that very good and well worth listening to are "Complicated", "Take me Down", "Satisfied" and to a lesser extent the very catch "Dive into me"... There is some really good guitar solos on the album which make up for the over-use of computerized programmed music on some tracks.

  • Incredible singer, great songs
    author: Hawkeye

This album is a great continuation to Pamela's solo career (and band with Radar). It's got great vocals, excellent guitar work from Jeff Loomis, and the two collaborated to write some wonderful songs, the likes of which haven't been since in the "light rock" category in years. This isn't a "retro" album by any means, this is new music that could be pop or rock, and fans of either would love this album. Pamela is ready to step out of the Queensryche shadow and earn her own way.

  • Incredible Album
    author: Jerry Bush

No matter what your taste in music, this is a MUST HAVE for any music collector. From Pamela's beautiful, sexy, and sultry vocals to Bejamin Andersons driving electronic programming and rythms to the over-driven, ball-busting guitar of Jeff Loomis (Nevermore), this recording has it all. Terri Nunn (Berlin) also appears on a couple of tracks and to top it off the album is produced by the great Neil Kernon. Queensryche fan or not, you'll love "Stories From A Blue Room".

  • fantastic from beginning to end!
    author: Leah

Wow! An amazing step back into the limelight. This record is one I listen to over and over. You will find yourself singing along to the songs even when you are not listening to the record. It's a great musical mix of high energy rock and dreamy rock. Along with Pamela's phenomenal vocal talents the music is complimented by Benjamin Anderson's beautiful melodic guitars and some sensational shredding guitars by Jeff Loomis. I love the duet with Terri Nunn of Berlin. "Satisfied" is a very powerful song that will have you moving to the rhythm in no time at all. I recommend investing $15 to hear the songs in full from beginning to end (not just the beginning clips here). There is so much more to the music that happens after these clips end. It is worth the purchase because every song on this record is excellent!

  • pretty damn good...
    author: woodman

i hope these two continue collaborating in the future.

  • Awesome Vocalist that sings from the Heart !!!
    author: Patrick Moore

Pamela.....What can I say...I've looked upto you for years You inspired me to sing.... I love you, The CD is Awesome.... Your Little Bro...Patrick
