"Country and Eastern" • ". . . the album has about as panoramic a take on old time folk music as one could hope to have: the band experiments successfully with traditions as disparate as bluegrass, klezmer music, vocal jazz, even off-kilter rural stomps.”

Dear Orpheum Bell,
I do wonder what to call your music - I grew up in Snyder, Oklahoma, where my father played "cowboy" music on the radio loudspeaker each Saturday from dawn to midnight. I heard hints of that - plus some bluegrass?
I went to school in Mississippi, near New Orleans and loved visits to Beale Street. I studied piano/saxophone with a pretty pure classical background, and grew up dancing away every night every chance I got to big band music. And I heard a little of each from you.
As you can see - the pleasure lingers on.
Sincerely,
Phyllis Wright

this all the time...
author: Michael SI really like this album a lot. found it on a limb or a whim and haven't lost sight of it sense. I like the Eastern European influence - perhaps because I've spent a lot of time there and appreciate their musical sensibilities (tending toward a melodic chaos with some sorrow, spite and poetry). look forward to seeing them live - please come play in Portland Oregon!
Pretty As You
author: Paul AlmaI first heard Orpheum Bell at Farm Fest 08. What a treat to be able to experience them live. That being said, I knew this band was fantastic. I normally do not listen to this style of music, but the talent and composition of these musicians is phenomenal. I highly recommend this album to all. I also anticipate the following album. This album was a GREAT BUY!
gorgeous mix of great and novel styles
author: MikeI'm not music savvy, but even I recognize a well balanced, experimental collection that appeals to my toe tapping sensabilities as well as my pensive appreciation.
