An intellectual Elvis tribute. 5 classic tracks from the Elvis Presley catalogue by the best Elvis cover band ever, this time joined by the amazing Afro Choir

notes

Another (the third) great and fitting tribute to the King, not burdened with pathetic soundalikes and lookalikes. This is an ultracool, intellectual tribute to the mature Elvis of the late sixties and the seventies. This time the band is joined by the amazing Afro Choir and be sure this record will give you a completely new picture of Elvis and his music. One Night With The King is a tribute show mainly focusing on the music and the artist Elvis Presley.
No jumpsuits, no wigs and no lookalikes. Just 7 passionate musicians, committed to deliver the music with the nerve and energy an artist like Elvis deserves. Singer Kent Wennman would probably qualify as the number one Elvis NON look alike but when it comes to love and respect for Elvis' music, he is one of the best. This third output includes 2 songs from the famous Stax sessions in 1973, 2 songs from Elvis most diffcult period in 1972 and of course Shake a hand from Elvis´ last studio recording 1975 (all his recordings after 1975 were done in the Djungle Room).

Musicans: Kent Wennman - Vocals, Tomas Arnesen - Piano, Guitar, Andreas Hellqvist - Hammond Organ,
Janne Lindgren - pedal Steel Guitar, Sampo Axelsson - Bass, Jan Carlsson - Guitar, Patrik Robertsson - Drums
and last, but not the least, AFRO choir.
Recorded by Kent Wennman, Sampo Axelsson, Arne Hirvi, Jim Wahrenstedt & Daniel Berglund
Produced and mixed by Kent Wennman, Jim Wahrenstedt & Daniel Berglund Choir arrangements by Arvid Nerdal & Peter Ekengren. Burning l ove was recorded live at Parksnäckan, Uppsala, by P4 Uppland 2004

  • Elvis songs treated with respect!
    author: Lennart Götesson/Dalademokraten

Orange from Uppsala continue to make Elvis songs their own way. The CD starts with a magnificent version of Shake a hand. Plenty of blues and soul and the amazing Afro choir adds a lot to the sound. Orange add a new dimension to songs like Always on my mind and So high. and they treat Elvis with a lot of respect. Buy this record if you want to hear well-known Elvis songs in a new way.

  • They sound like they mean it!
    author: Fredrik Bergström

Personally I am very tired of Elvis covers but with this fat Afro Choir in his back Mr. Wennman pulls it off and this is a record even hardcore Elvisfans will accept.Production is very nice and they sound like they really mean it. And thank God, Jailhouse rock is not included.

  • very good cd
    author: Arild Hauger

when i got this cd i though here we go again another elvis wannabe, but i was totally wrong. they don't even try to sound like Elvis, they got their own style and sound and thats great so i hope you keep it that way. cause it's really good....

  • What a nice surprise!
author: Arne Lund/former president of TCE Elvis fanclub of Sweden

The CD is a very nice surprise and once again Orange has succeded in giving Elvis new life. I've been listening to it over and over again. Best quality on both sound, performance and song selection.

  • It's not about imitation, it's about love!
    author: Bengt Eriksson/Rootsy Music

I had the two first minialbums by Orange. They have such personal interpretations! Now Orange is here with their third minialbum with songs associated with the King. This time with more gospel flavour. Afro Choir is there to provide gospel feeling. What makes this album so good is that it is not about imitation. It is about love. Singer Kent Wennman sings like himself but with personality and feeling. For the most it's very good.
