ON TRACY LANE PRESS RELEASE 4-11-05:
"OTL mixes catchy hook-driven riffs with personal lyrics and touches of a retro-rock feel reminiscent of early Tom Petty or Bowie; the result is clear, undiluted rock n' roll."
- Sarah Chung, Crazewire.com
"This is a band people will want to hear more from."
- Mark E. Waterbury, Music Morsels
On Tracy Lane, the L.A.-based rock band of singer/songwriter Darryn Yates, has finished recording a five-song EP with the St. Louis production company Shock City Music Works. SCMW is owned by Platinum recording artist Doug Firley, formerly of Gravity Kills, and indie rock veteran Chris Loesch.
The self-titled EP features fan favorites "House of Mimes," and "Walk In Like DeNiro." Also included on the disc is "Back To Maybe," for which the group recently shot a video with Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls, Party of Five).
An all-star list of musicians helped to complete the recording, including Brad Booker (Stir, Apartment 26, Gravity Kills) on drums, Thom Donovan (Phono, Stir, La Push) on guitar, and Will Pelley (Neptune Crush) on bass.
OTL BIO:
On Tracy Lane, the brainchild of singer/songwriter Darryn Yates, is a modern twist on classic 80s pop rock. Schooled in the vocal stylings of Dave Pirner and Tom Petty, OTL
captures the spirit of bands like The Cars while revising their retro sound with driving guitars and lush vocal arrangements.
On Tracy Lane has opened for acts such as American Hi-Fi and Local H, toured colleges on the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) tours -- which scored them regular play on over 75 collegiate stations last year alone -- and shot a video for their single "Back To Maybe," featuring Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls, Party of Five). On Tracy Lane's fans, 10,000 on their mailing list from the U.S. and abroad, gobbled up several thousand copies of their self-titled EP. Their album Spent was ranked #1 out of 200 modern-rock albums by WCLH 90.7 FM, beating bands like the Dandy Warhols, Alkaline Trio, and Three Days Grace.
Yates recently finished recording with Shock City Music Works, the maverick production company of Platinum recording artist Doug Firley and Chris Loesch.
Yates is a veteran of the L.A. rock scene and has been praised by the press for his passionate performances and his ability to write catchy, original hooks. A natural songwriter, he skillfully weaves melodic, upbeat pop with punches of rock and punk for a truly original sound.
On Tracy Lane is able to do what the flash-in-the-pan trends haven't: Create a sonic signature for the new decade, a sound bands of the future will cop for the innovation, bands of today will be fast to mimic, and fans won't surely forget.
