notes
No Windows is not just another 'pane in the glass' acoustic folk group. Carol, Denise, Marianne, and Joanne have performed with various groups or solo for over twenty years. They came together over ten years ago to share musical styles and sterling harmonies. Their smooth sounds and catchy lyrics combine with original arrangements to present a wide spectrum of musical styles. Accompanied by a variety of musical instruments, their repertoire includes folk, doo-wop, protest, lullabies, and rounds. At home singing together anywhere, No Windows has performed in coffeehouses, festivals, concerts, and special events. With beautiful harmonies, mischievous wit, and a genuine love of music, a performance by No Windows is everything it's cracked up to be.
Carol, Joanne, Mariane, and Denise have been inspired by countless songwriters and artists, not to mention each other. Their repertoire reflects influences from Christine Lavin, Joan Baez, Anne Hills, Nancy Griffin, Pat Alger, Gordon Lightfoot, John Gorka, Bob Dylan, Norm Deaver, and Saverio Minicucci to name just a sampling. Add to that the styles of Dion and the Belmonts and the Lennon Sisters, and understanding No Windows becomes as clear as glass. The "panes" list their favorite performances as every Doylestown Arts Festival (especially those when the weather was friendly), a recent gig with Naomi Judd, and their debut CD release concert.
Performance venues include: Bristol First Night, Doylestown Arts Fest, Doylestown First Night, Mom & Pop's Coffeehouse, Troubadour Folk Club Folk Fest, The Mermaid Inn, Borders Books and Music, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, St. Thomas' Church Summer Carillon Concert Series, Perkasie Patchworks Coffee House, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Women's Health & Wellness Forum

These women's voices blend well in harmony.
author: Ruth RosauerI heard their song, Another Train, on the car radio and had to have it. I love that song and the track before it, Angels. The lyrics and the singing are both excellent. I would have rated the CD a 5 stars overall, except that the first track -- about doing a sound check -- is so lame it irritates me every time I hear it.
If you love folk harmony this is the CD for you.
author: Barbara GillNot only does this CD make you feel like dancing around it also inspires you to sing along. The wit contained in several selections makes you smile. The harmony is sublime. I am looking foward to their next CD.
