notes

Nonoy is originally from the island of Panay, Roxas City, Capiz, Philippines. He was born with a dream to "make-it" in America but his heart still beats "FILIPINO". A new home, a dream to fulfill, "ako si NONOY...AMERI-PINO" is the reality of life as an immigrant in a foreign land. Learning to live and love again in a new language and culture is a real challenge. "An Ameri-pino Man is who I am today, proud to be an American but with deep Fili-pino roots". This vision hopes to bridge the cultural and language divide.
Recording “original” compositions in a “bi-lingual” format serves to keep the native tongue alive while opening the native ears, and hearts, to English.
In his journey from the Philippines Nonoy has made friends and fans from Japan to Anchorage, Seattle to Los Angeles, in fact; everywhere he goes!! As you watch him play his guitar you see and hear the nuances of Santana, Jeff Beck and a little Stevie Ray Vaughn.
In Nonoy's first solo effort he truly "breaks out". He breaks out of his immigrant shell and bursts onto the music scene with one of the most "relevant" CDs produced in years.
This CD combines great musical sensibilities, social awareness and "cause oriented" lyrics. It's a totally "refreshing" vibe in our jaded society.
Musically you'll hear Latin and R&B beats with Soulful vocals and Nonoy's "edgy but melodic" guitar work is brilliant.
"ako si NONOY...AMERI-PINO" features some stellar musicians from Tucson, AZ, Los Angeles, Ca and Portland, OR. A first rate production. ENJOY!
