    I missed the performance out at Wolf Trap when he recorded this album however this is almost as good because of the quality of recording and the fact that it is live. It is like you are right there. As for the music, I can not think of an album that I have enjoyed this much since Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks", which was released over 40 years ago. The acoustic guitar work is nothing short of amazing !!!

    Acoustic Live is a wonderful collection of songs with lyrics that touch the heart and soul. The lyrics, combined with Nil's magnifcently passionate voice and superb talent on the keyboard and the guitar, make for a must-have CD. My favorite tunes include Little on Up, Blues Skies, and I'll Arise - all three brought tears to my eyes!

    I love all of the songs, especially "Sticks and Stones" and "No Mercy". It's too bad Nils' solo career tends to be overshadowed by his role as the guitarist for Bruce Springsteen and thee E Street Band. And yet, as you can tell by listening to this album, Nils could care less. He's playing to play, not because he has some song or record to promote... Now, that's a true musician!

    Nils is without a doubt a great guitar player. Its shows on this CD. It's not in your face guitar playing, But has great melodie. Also added alot to the great E street band.

    For better or for worse, Nils is first and foremost known as "the guitar player for Bruce Speingsteen and the E Street Band." And yet, he is simply Nils Lofgren. He may never make it big (he never really did, aside from a Top 30 hit in the early 70s), but, when listening to this live album, you can tell that Nils doesn't care. He performs his heart and soul out on every song. Though all the songs are marvelous, I have an especially soft sport for "No Mercy." But, like I said, all of the songs are awesome.

    Heard Black Books on the Sopranos---remembering only a few of the lyrics, it took some time( Thanks Google) to track down the title, then the artist and finally the CD Acoustic Live. Well worth the trouble. Who the hell is Springsteen?? He wishes he had a CD this good.....

    I spun this disc in my cd-player 5 times so far and it's been growing on me all the time. By now it's like sitting down in your favourite chair and reading a letter from an old and long lost friend. The intimacy, the feelings, the sound.....just beautiful.     This record has recently risen to culthood in Norwegian High-End Hi-Fi showrooms, and cut 5 "Keith don't go" is in real danger of being played to death. I just had to get this record, and CD-baby was one of the very few places who stocked it. The record arrived in good condition at record speed from the other side of the globe and kept me up all evening. Absolutely recommended!

  • A true reflection of a great live performer

    We all like to buy live CDs when we've really enjoyed seeing an artist in concert but generally the CD rarely captures the essence of the live performance. With Nils Lofgren Acoustic Live, the quality of performance, sound, and recording all brought back wonderful memories of seeing a truly great performer at the top of his trade and recaptured that concert feel. I had a job getting hold of this CD in England but I'm now in the process of playing it to death and introducing Nils Lofgren to as many people as will listen. They are foolish if they pass up the opportunity as this is a great recording by any standard. There are too many highlights to mention but Keith Don't Go, Believe and Black Books have a special quality to them and deserve to be heard by a larger audience. In a word - wonderful.
