Progressive / symphonic rock that blends the mystic qualities of Genesis, the sense of the bizarre from Gentle Giant, the melodic capabilities of the Beatles or Kevin Gilbert, the occasional outburst of virtuosity displayed by Yes and the compositional style of Emerson Lake & palmer and Kansas. Combine these attributes with thought-provoking lyrics ala Ian Anderson, Peter Gabriel and Sting and produce the whole package in a Pink Floyd meets Trevor Horn mix. Throw in bits from King Crimson, Vangelis, Queen, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Patrick Moraz, UK, Asia, Steeleye Span, Gryphon, Renaissance, Steely Dan, Toto, Danny Elfman, Mark Mothersbaugh, Rush, Frank Zappa and melt all of this into a unique, coherent and current style. Channel all of the band's collective energy into creating a 64-minute concept album consisting of 18 individual songs, unrelated and yet containing a common thread throughout much like Tommy or Quadrophoenia by the Who.
This description has been New Eden Orchestra's recipe for the creation of 'Anyman'. Recurring musical and lyrical themes as well as their variations are used throughout Anyman to recall certain scenes or generate timely emotional responses. New Eden Orchestra's primary focus is always on the composition and where it will fit into the overall flow of the album.

Working with NEO was a great experience and a good challange to come up with the art for this album... I still get alot of inspiration listening to Anyman. This album will take your mind's eye for a surreal ride into places where our minds need to travel more often.

I feel like "Anyman" was recorded just for me. It is a compilation of all things musical that I love. The styles, the lyrics, the message, and the music. I will definitely need to purchase another CD to share with my friends. I'm just not prepared to give up mine right now. Thanks for the great music.

I got a copy from the band. It sounds pretty good so far. In some ways it sounds like a close relative to Salem Hill and Cryptic Vision.

I bought Anyman along with a number of other CDs and I have to say that it stood out along with a couple of others as being rather special. I think Jihad is a fantastic opener and it is a great way to introduce yourselves to an unsuspecting public! :-) I was certainly struck by the variety of styles on the album and I congratulate you on being able to compose such diverse songs. I think it's a very balanced production - I love the way that the instrumental "Death and his half-brother sleep" segues into the beautiful "Full". I think Aubrey Garber's performance on "Full" is outstanding and so apt. And then on to Catacombs, another evocative instrumental. Thanks for bringing such great music into the world. There are just so many great pieces on this disc. I love Golden Fleece but why single that one out when there is so much more. Anyway, I wish the band all the best - I have no doubt that you will succeed if talent is the required ingredient. I look forward to your next CD.

NEO is more of your contemporary progressive rock band. Not the heavy progressive metal that usually comes out of Europe. The best comparison would be to Kansas & YES with a twist of Beatles. It's a very fresh sound for today's music scene. Very instrumentally oriented, it takes a lot of 70s aspects and incorporates it into music for today. "Anyman" in my opinion is a musical journey through different aspects of time. I want to say that this is one of those CD's that may even sound like a soundtrack for a movie. I may be onto something here. Hmmm, which movie? Let me think on that one. My 2 Hot Picks are "Daydream" and "Deja View". Deja View is my absolute favorite. This has to be the most rockin' song on the CD. Also, Track 16, "Anyman" is a fabulous instrumental. A group of very talented seasoned guys kickin' the asses of today's grunge punks. Special Thanks going out to Dave Marion for supplying me with such a musical portrait of a CD.

Recommended for every lover of 70’s style prog. The heavy synths, attonish percussion climates, appropriated vocals and amazing songs. Extremely original, compare to something? Genesis, Gentle Giant ? Very hard to say. In short, a real masterpiece. Congratulations!

Boy, are we good! Once again, we have tracked down a prog masterpiece for you! New Eden Orchestra is an American five piece that here come up with a very, very strong debut. Without using too many clichés they have a sound that will make every lover of 70’s style prog wet their pants. Extremely varied with heavy synths, awesome vocals and great songs. Hard to compare to something, but apart from Genesis, Gentle Giant and many other great 70’s names you can also draw similarities to Wetton-period Asia and Ayreon. What a day! Two masterpieces in one day, first Syzygy, and now this. Spend your money friends! This is awesome! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (Martin & Per) Rating: 9

I really enjoyed hearing the CD! Thanks for sending it over. The recording quality, lyrics, vocals & musical chops were all excellent. The theme of the project is very unique and not something I see too often these days. Track 2 reminded me of something Billy Joel would have written. It was very cool - yet very original. Nice job!

Excellent new US symphonic rock band that sounds like a non-secular version of Glass Hammer. It's got that big Glass Hammer-like sound, good hooks and lots and lots of great keyboard work. This one has been a real grower. Highly recommended.

This is a band and CD you’ll probably be hearing a lot more about. The New Eden Orchestra is a quintet from Pittsburgh, and though this 2004 album is their debut, the core members of the band have been together for over 25 years, and they’ve spent eight years (on and off) bringing Anyman to fruition. This is a 64-minute melodic prog rock concept album, to quote the band, “in the style of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, The Wall, or Tommy”. You can’t question their ambition! Overall, the music gravitates more toward Kansas and Yes, though there is a fairly wide variety of musical styles present (but all within the boundaries of progressive rock). Glass Hammer may be the best reference of all, Spock’s Beard to a lesser extent. The vocal sections pull the album toward the mainstream, while (not surprisingly) the instrumental sections contain the real proggy stuff. Quality male vocals with a guest female vocalist on one track.
