Album Notes

we love making music and helped each other put this together. theres a lot of good songs here...i dont know how to categorize them but check them out if you have a little time-thanks joe Some of the musical relationships in evidence on this album are generations deep. Using essentially the same instruments as their fathers and grandfathers used playing together back in the day, Norm Reidy and Joe Nelson skillfully blend rock, country folk, and blues in these fifteen tunes. Don't look for songs about so-called 'island life' here though. True, the album makes exclusive use of a wealth of Vinalhaven musical talent, was recorded at the island's new studio "The Flophouse", and represents the vision of some of the newest inheritors of Vinalhaven's long and rich musical tradition. But 'islandness' isn't the point. Singing and playing from the heart about life, listening and supporting each other, and taking part in a musical community which goes beyond music, is the point. Norm Reidy and Joe Nelson are from the island of Vinalhaven, located 15 miles off the coast of Maine.
