Album Notes

Country ballads, funked-out folk, rock, and blues have all found their place in Nancy Moore's recordings and live shows. Simple rhythm guitar and provocative vocal melodies are what she writes. The songs stand solid in solo acoustic settings, and as fully-orchestrated, honky-tonk pageantry. From accordion and fiddle, to mandolin or banjo, accompanists add color and spice to her rich tapestry of sound. These Are Real is the debut disc from Nancy Moore. Co-produced by Nancy Moore and Rob Wechsler at Wextrax, in McKinney, Texas, the album features nine songs penned by Moore and a honky-tonkifide cover of "And This Is My Beloved" from the musical Kismet. Jack Ingram is featured with Moore on "Happy Song," and Barry Kooda performs with her on the duet "I've Got A Ring." Musicians include Milo Deering on fiddle, steel guitar and mandolin, Don Wayne Reno on banjo, Bobby Baranowski on drums, Herman Echols on bass, Hash Brown on electric guitar and harmonica, Becky Cutler on background vocals, Nick Ballarini on accordion, and Jim Lenhert on saxophone. The album's eclectic array of songs and styles is by design. For six years, Moore was a DJ on Dallas' KNON FM (89.3), and like a play list from an all-night Americana radio show, this disc takes the listener on a musical road trip. "When I was a little girl," Moore explains, "I didn't know that what my dad listened to on the car radio and in the pool halls was 'country' music - to me, it was just 'music'. And we watched all of the variety shows on television. So whether it was Buck Owens, Ella Fitzgerald, or Benny Goodman, to me it was all the same - I just knew I liked to sing along." As a teenager, Moore played bass in a punk band, and eventually would have a stint in Ray Wylie Hubbard's rhythm section in 1985-86. Today, Moore lives in Dallas, Texas and performs regionally.

This CD turns every day into a happy day. Her lyrics make you want to listen to every word and the music will have you movin'. My favorite song of this collection is "Better In The Rain", but everyone who hears the CD has a different favorite, proving she has a hit record on her hands. Now if she will put out that second album so we can rave about that one! Thanks for the inspiration! Shayla

Nancy is the real one!
author: Mrs. A
Nancy drives a hole through the wind with her clear voice and emotinally driven lyrics. She weaves the earth, wind and rain with her life's experiences to produce some great music. I am waiting impatiently for her second CD to be relaesed. Thanks Shaggy!

Great music without cowboy hats or wrist cutting
author: Ranger Raoul
Stop dancing and listen to the lyrics, you will hear stories, rambling rocking tunes that take you from the Louisiana bayou to Deep Ellum Street in Dallas. She drives with you to work through rush hour traffic and then rides a hole through the wind! Great stuff, give one to everyone you know.
